Draft position question

So, I was checking the standings now that the season is done, and this, according to TSN is the bottom six...

Columbus 29 wins, 65 points
Edmonton 32 wins, 74 points
Montreal 31 wins, 78 points
Islanders 34 wins, 79 points
Anaheim 34 wins, 80 points

Toronto 35 wins, 80 points

Question is, are games won the tie breaker? Meaning Toronto finished 6th and out of the lottery? TSN also has an article up saying Habs and Leafs both have a shot at 1st overall.... but they don't??

You should us the NHL standings over TSN. They're better. The tie-breaker is ROWs (Regulation/Overtime wins). Anaheim and Toronto are tied in ROWs, so the tie breaker is +/-. Toronto has a worse +/- than Anaheim so Toronto finishes below Anaheim.

I don't think you can move up more than 2 spots if you win the lottery.

4 spots is the most, so yes, Toronto has a shot at 1st overall

You can move up 4 spots but only move down 1 spot.

Odds of Winning the 1st Overall Pick - Final Standings 2011/12

48.2% - Columbus Blue Jackets - 65 points
18.8% - Edmonton Oilers - 74 points
14.2% - Montreal Canadiens - 78 points
10.7% - New York Islanders - 79 points
8.1% - Toronto Maple Leafs - 80 points

Teams can only move up 4 slots maximum (ie. only the top 5 teams have a shot at winning the lottery) and drop no more than 1 spot in the order.

Asked and answered. By NHL's tie-breaking procedure, Toronto finishes in lottery pick position while Anaheim is in 6th spot.

All other talk of this year's draft can be taken to the draft sticky.
