I get what you're trying to say, but let me throw out there that Gary Bettman and the New York Rangers don't exactly have the greatest relationship.

If that's the case, then I truly feel for Senator fans. The reffing in this league has gone to the point where I consider it bush-league. I really hope they call the game fair.

When I break down this matchup I see NYR having us beat in most categories. Better overall D, Better or equal bottom 6 (big fan of Prust) , better goaltending, and a better second line. The only area I believe we are better in is our top end scorers aka Spezza and Karlsson. Gaborik is a better player than Michalek but I'll take Spezza over Richards any day. Hagelin's better than Greening but I think that if Greening can ratchet up the intensity he can have a bigger impact on this series (assuming Hagelin starts on the line with Richards and Gaborik).

The Turris line might be able to cancel out the impact of Stepan/Callahan but I have my doubts. Overall though, the success of this series falls on the shoulders of Jason Spezza and Erik Karlsson to out score their deeper top 6 unit which is fitting given what transpired in the regular season.

One advantage, their top six D have played a combined 59 games, with two who have played 0. Experience can be huge in the playoffs

From a Bruins fan,

Division rival but GO SENS in this series!

Please pray for us against Washington (yeah, I know you guys probably won't )...a lot of us are pretty nervous.

I think it's pretty silly how cocky along of Bruins fans were about playing you guys. We did well against you this year, but you're obviously a very playoff worthy team and have the skill to back that up.

Hopefully, see you down the road!

Chris Neil is gonna make way more of an impact in this series imo assuming he's healthy and good to go.

I hope the Neiler is good to go for game 1.

I'll be at every Sens home game in the playoffs, and I hope get to at least 12 of them

I'm from the old school. I'm a Sens fan and couldn't care less about any other team.

NYR are our enemies as of now. Tuck in your skirts and soldier your top lip. It's us against them.

Sort it out, internalize it, and stop leaving room for other teams.

From this point on there should be only one team that matters.

Welcome to my world...

Senators always have been and continue to be my team to root for in the East. Take it to the Rangers and win the series!

I'll leave it up to others to make the decision to revive Senapreds or not.

As for giving you guys Suter sorry, not gonna happen.

I don't really expect it, wouldn't be unhappy if it happened though

Should be a great series, will be interesting to see what Tort's will have to say after every game though...

Definitely going to be a lot better than us facing the Bruins too...

Amen brother. I don't believe in being a dick about it but, I am not suggesting you are, but I will enjoy this series if we are able to win. If not I will congratulate the Rangers and be upset we did not win. I wan this team to win not play well, or not embarrass themselves. WIN

In the postseason:

Ottawa's defense core has played 256 games and has a combined total of 116 points. The only defenseman with no playoff experience is Jared Cowen.

New York's defense core has played 69 games and has a combined total of 10 points.

The forward groups have pretty similar postseason experience though.

Ottawa's top 12 forwards have played 293 games and have 167 points. Spezza and Alfredsson represent pretty much all of the scoring. Ottawa has some HUGE question marks in Michalek, Turris and Bingo group.

NYR's top 12 have 153 points in 298 games. Four players (Richards, Gabby, Dubinsky and Fedetenko) have proven scoring ability come playoff time, and only Richards and Dubinsky have seen anything remotely resembling PPG ability in the last five years.

All that being said - I like Ottawa's experience to take the series. Spezza / Alfy will pretty much match Gabby / Richards point for point and our defense's ability to produce offense will win us the series.

The only way I think New York wins this series is if Lundqvist steals it, and I don't think he has it in him.
I get that this is the Sens board and there will be homertastic comments, but show some respect for #1 seed here.

Good luck to you, gentlemen. I'm sure we'll be at each other's throats in a few days time.

It would be nice if Ranger fans would show some respect to Ottawa they way some are talking it won't even be close.

The Rangs will sacrifice their bodies fearlessly. The Sens will have to wear them down physically with hits and tonnes of big shots on net. Make them wince at the thought of jumping in front of another slapper. Make them think twice about going in the corner again. The Rangs are tough so it'll be a tall order.
