I'm not saying it wasn't a frustrating season and fans have a right to feel bad and/or let down, but this board has taken it to another level lately. I can only hope you guys aren't so depressing in everyday life. Sheesh.
Well, you know the old saying. "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me four times in a row, oh god I need another drink."

He shunned us to go elsewhere to win a cup. Of course I don't want that plan to work.

Why did Gaborik ever leave anyways? Just to find a new team or got tired of the mediocrity he put up with?

After this seaon, think we won't have much brain cells left from all the drunkiness we'd do. This type of season yeah makes you want to go on a bender.

This season was harder than before. It's always empty feeling after the season and you need the time to recover. But this season, ups and downs were so much steeper. Plus very frustrating and controversial ending.

I do think that you must fight to the bitter end, but.. ..don't actually really know. Worst part was that there wasn't anything to fight for in the end. Normally you can say we did our best, it wasn't enough. Not this time.

I'll jump on the Preds wagon, still it takes a while to enjoy hockey again. Now it is time to be sad and depressed. Sun will shine some day, just have to go thru this first. I'd lie to myself, if I didn't admit, it feels a bit worhtless and empty at the moment.

I was told or heard (might've even been on this forum) he didn't like the defensive-minded Lemaire system, so split to go elsewhere. I still think he is an absolute game changer and one of the top five assets in the league.

I met him a couple times and even met his girlfriend and sister downtown Stillwater once outside the Freight House.

But looking at the bigger picture they do have four of our own on their squad. Can't be too many other teams with more Minnesotans. Also, I believe Callahan is the first ever American captain of the Range, so I think that's pretty cool as well. They actually have eight Americans on the team altogether.

Avder, I'm just imagining you finishing a half-full month-old box of Franzia in your fridge by yourself.

Nah its just half a bottle of some cheap white zinfandel.

Ahhhh warm bubbly feeling, wash the pain of this season away.

Too bad theres not enough to get rip roaring drunk with. Might not even be enough to give me a decent buzz...damn my tolerance.

For those who were overly optimistic I told you so...

I would like to grab a D, knowing that next year is the year of the fowards, but I'm a serious fan of Forsberg and Faksa.

Dumba and Murray are the only 2 D I want.

Nice title. Yeah it was basically a flush the goldfish down the toilet season, *sigh* hopefully next year. Good read and shows the promise we got coming down the pipeline. Hope we use the 7th overall to our benefit this year.

I would not mind of Palmieri actually lived up to some of his potential next year and fought for a roster spot or at least to the front of the line for call up duties.

Truth is simply Fletcher wanted a new identity stamped on the team. For all that a lot of fans called Koivu "franchise" (nothing wrong with that) Gaborik was the first thing anyone thought of when Wild was mentioned (aside from "trap"). It probably would have cost more than would be reasonable to pay to keep him anyway, but Fletcher never offered, never had any intention of keeping him. He said "thanks for the new hips and goodbye!"

it would be great if he just had one good solid year of living up to his potential just to get us over the hump while our prospects mature.

I don't think it was as much about mediocrity as he didn't really feel the Twin Cities was big enough for him. He wanted to be a headliner in a major market. Either way, if he really wanted to stick around he could have. He chose not to. And Doug Risebrough was dumb enough to wait too long after he rejected his first offer.

I don't think Fletcher had a chance to make the offer because Gaborik had his free agent tunnel vision on. If Gaborik wanted to stay he could have; and I think Fletcher would've wanted him.

If memory serves me correctly, a major reason (if not the main reason) Risebrough got the axe was because he screwed up the Gaborik deal. By the time the axe fell, they knew getting a deal with Gaborik was a no go no matter who they replaced Risebrough with.
