Stubhub. I'm heading to Denver for the season finale, and just picked up 4 tickets in the lower bowl for 55 bucks each, including fees. Face value is $122.00 each.
Of course, you'll still probably pay a premium for playoff tickets. Still, if you're driving in from out of town (I can relate, I drive in from Knoxville) and don't want to take a chance with the scalpers or be ***** by ticketmaster, stubhub's the best.
Speaking of StubHub...I received this email from them tonight:
Quote:
Preserve Fans' Rights. Oppose the Amendment to Tennessee Senate Bill 3441:
We believe that when you buy a ticket to your favorite concert or sporting event you should be able to give that ticket away as a gift or sell it to whomever you wish. But some ticket companies want to take that right away from fans like you. Right now there is legislation in the Tennessee Senate to protect fan's rights, and you can help preserve a fans rights by telling your Senator to vote against amending Senate Bill 3441. Tell your lawmakers to vote against this legislation.
A proposed amendment to S.B. 3441 would take away the right of fans who buy tickets to resell them in the free market, or give them away to friends or family. We believe that this isn’t friendly to consumers. Unfortunately, a large ticket company that has exclusive contracts with a majority of venues and arenas in Tennessee, and manages a large percentage of the top touring artists, wants to pass this bill and wants to control how tickets can be resold or given away.
Simply put, the proposed amendment to S.B. 3441, if passed, would outlaw your ability to give away or sell your tickets to anyone you wish, in any marketplace you choose. Fans deserve this right, but they need to stand up and tell their senators to stand with them.
Please send a letter urging your state legislators to vote against the proposed amendment to S.B. 3441. Thank you for making your voice heard.
62-51-101. Posing as being licensed or bonded -- Penalty.
In addition to any other penalty provided by law, it is unlawful for any individual, firm, association or corporation to advertise or otherwise claim to be licensed or bonded to perform any service unless local, state or federal law, in fact, requires licensing or bonding to perform the service, and the person is so licensed or bonded. A violation of this section is a Class A misdemeanor
The law if amended:
AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 62,
relative to fair trade practices in the entertainment
industry.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 62-51-101, is amended by deleting
the section in its entirety and by substituting instead the following:
62-51-101.
In addition to any other penalty provided by law, it is unlawful for any individual, firm, association, partnership, or corporation to advertise or otherwise claim to be licensed or bonded to perform any service unless local, state or federal law, in fact, requires licensing or bonding to perform the service, and the person is so licensed or bonded. A violation of this section is a Class A misdemeanor.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2012, the public welfare requiring it.
If this is the correct chapter, I don't see how adding the word partnership would keep an individual from selling their personnal tickets.
Does anyone know if the exclusive presale this morning is at 10 ET or 10 CT? The Breakaway subscriber email does not specify...so I will continue to spam the link for the time being.
Its a fun time to attend a game during playoffs. I was there during the 2nd round when we got ousted by Vancouver. I remember specifically walking down the stairs after the game was over and we heard a lot of Canucks fans cheering. Everyone in the stairwell started chanting: "USA, USA". They sent me an email letting me know that I can go ahead and get the playoff tickets early for this year. I'm not even a season holder, but put down my deposit for next year. I'm going to hold off on the playoffs this year due to money issues. I will be there next season however.
Edit: The atmosphere during playoffs is amazing. Its ramped up more then regular season. The crowd really does get into it. Towels waving, tears in your eyes, etc. Its worth the money in my eyes. We really do have a passionate fan base who have stood by this team through thick and thin. To the OP, I hope that you do enjoy your time catching the game during the playoffs. Its one that you will always remember for the rest of your life.

What are my options for playoff tickets. Of course the games will be sold out but what can an out of town fan do other the man in the street?

Answer the call to “Stand With Us” and defend our home ice advantage. Buy now and save as value based pricing will begin to push the prices for these games upward as tickets go on sale to the general public.
You are invited to get your tickets today, BEFORE they go on sale to the public. Just use the presale password SMASHVILLE to purchase your tickets now until March 30, 2012 at 5pm.
Still plenty of tickets out there on stubhub as of 9:00 am- hope Preds fans go and get them, not Wings fans...
Have to say I am a little surprised how low ticket prices are for Game 1 on the secondary market. You can get into Game 1 tonight MUCH cheaper than for the Blackhawks game two Saturday's ago....
