Well, the system that Tampa played is far different than what New York plays with currently.
However, I seem to think that Torts is stubborn and inflexible. I don't think much of him as a tactician. Seems he is a one trick motivator. He doesn't adapt nor try to adjust his game plan.
I am also very concerned that he can't do anything unless he has a team of offensive all star's to rely on.
torts is great but there's no coach I would take over guy right now, not even bylsma
Bylsma got schooled in this playoffs. Laviolette owned him and Bylsma lost his team completely. Of course, it doesn't help when your best goalie is leaps and bounds better than your backup and your starting goalie was complete ****.

I agree the flyers were much better, but Bylsma is a great coach and has done incredible things these past years
The OP will be singing a different tune if the Rangers come back to win the series. This is just a typical HF knee-jerk reaction, Tortorella is a good coach and he's fine in NY.

No, I see a complete inability in his game plan to stop teams that can transition quickly. Even if we get past the Sens, the Rangers can't beat the Caps if we face them next round.
Rangers win their series, it will be in spite of Torts not because of him.

I get what you mean. Coming out of the lockout, Torts refused to change anything in his game plan in regards to the red line being removed, which meant that other teams could (and did) exploit this.
Well he took Rangers to the first place in the Conference, not bad considering it's a quite mediocre team on paper. Rangers must be one of the hardest working teams out there, combined with Lundqvists goaltending that is their strengths.

He didn't take the Rangers to 1st in the east. The players did, and while some part of that is due to Tortorella's coaching, it would not have been accomplished without the players doing everything.
I had no idea that people in Tampa had poor opinions of Torts... I missed a couple years, got back right when Tocchet was hired. I know that coaches usually don't get fired for NO reason, but was he really that bad at the end of his time with us?
Looks like Rangers are going to force game 7, as long as they don't **** up
<1 minute after posting that Ottawa scored, 3-2 less than 1 minute left (should be no goal, doubt they overrule though)

Well, to be fair to Torts, getting fired when he did probably had less to do with his abilities in that last season and more about the cowboys.
