After five years of playing this game on the official boards, I'm excited to bring it over here to my new Caniac friends. It works just as you'd think: correctly pick a series winner, get points. But as we all know, the playoff bracket gets rearranged after the conference quarterfinals... so picking the entire playoffs all at once doesn’t work well. Therefore, everyone sends in picks before each round. You must send them to me in a PM... otherwise, they won’t be counted. To keep the game fair, please don’t reveal your picks to anyone until a round has begun and they can no longer be sent in. Although this has little effect early on... it can greatly influence picks made in the later rounds, and that’s not how the game should be played. When you make your picks, be sure to include how many games you think each series will go. Your picks will still be counted if you don’t do this, but you’ll miss out on potential bonus points. Scoring breakdown is as follows:
Conference Quarterfinals- 1 point
Conference Semifinals- 2 points
Conference Finals- 4 points
Stanley Cup Final- 8 points
Now, about those bonus points I just mentioned. One bonus point will be awarded for correctly picking the length of a series... but only if you correctly pick the winning team. That’s why it’s important to remember to include series length in your picks, because those bonus points can decide who wins the contest. The deadline to make picks for each round will be when the first game of that round begins... so make sure you pay attention to the schedule so you don’t get locked out. I'll begin accepting picks once tonight's final game (Los Angeles at San Jose) ends, since that will make the playoff matchups official. I know the East matchups are already set, but it makes it a heck of a lot easier to get all the picks at once. So, that's about all you need to know... good luck to everyone!
Note: Doing meth while making your picks is optional, but not advised.
A little over four hours left... if you haven't made picks yet, GET THEM IN! Because the playoffs are more fun when you make picks. And when we're playing. But we're not. So it's sad. But... yeah. Let's not make this depressing... MAKE PICKS!!!
The playoffs are underway! That means picks are now closed... 16 people got in the game for the conference quarterfinals. We shall see how it all unfolds...

Sorry for the delay in updating the leaderboard... I was playing tennis with my girlfriend in the rain. You know, the usual.
Jussi Trollinen said he would finish either first or last. So far, his prediction is holding true to form. He now shares the top spot with two other people, but he's still there nonetheless. Condolences to KibGrinder, though... the cellar is a cold, dark place.
Half of the conference quarterfinals series are complete, and Jussi Trollinen is back to being alone at the top. Meanwhile, I'm down in the cellar with four others. I should quit picking based on what I think is going to happen and go for broke like our current leader. It's obviously working out well for him so far.

Charlie Daniel's told me that the South is gonna do it. Exactly what "IT" is, or how they're gonna ccomplish it, I have no idea, but I'll pull for them regardless
Not many of you picked Washington, so the leaderboard doesn't change that much after tonight's proceedings. Jussi Trollinen still maintains his two-point lead.
REALLY IMPORTANT NOTE: There will be very little time to get in your picks for the conference semifinals, as they'll begin in Phoenix just one night after the conference quarterfinals end tomorrow. Since there won't be the four-day period to get your picks in like there was for the conference quarterfinals, be sure not to waste any time getting them in! Also keep in mind that I won't accept picks until both of tomorrow night's games are over... so there will essentially be a 24-hour period to do so.
Had to work tonight, so I'm just now getting to update the leaderboard. The lead for Jussi Trollinen is down to just one point, but it could go right back up if Florida wins in OT. Stay tuned...
