I'm sure they'll do some split squad junk with those first 5, maybe a few guys who always get sent down prior to playing a game will get one this go around. It sure beats a couple years ago when they only scheduled 4 preseason games.

I also don't think we've ever had more than 3 preseason home games. I'd rather them not charge me for more of them to be honest, play em all on the road.

Not sure, I know they had a similar schedule the year they won the cup, but dunno if that was 3 or 4 at home.

Damn, was hoping they'd do a game at Phillips as I'm off to GT next year. Oh well...

Looks like it was 4 at home in 05/06, wow. 3 is a plenty.

I'll probably go to the Nashville game unless there is a State football game then (highly unlikely). These next 11 days are going to be absolute hell for the hockey world unless some trade appears out of nowhere.

Regular season schedule should pop up before the draft so that I can plan out road trips that will inevitably not happen.

Cue the Canadian traditionalists/Quebec City crowd blathering that this is a sign that the NHL is testing the waters to relocate the Hurricanes to QC and that "this will be the most people the Hurricanes have ever played in front of."

So, Rick Nash makes his Carolina debut against the Blue Jackets in Columbus? Sounds like a plan.

We have dates! Oh thank god, the first day of "hockey summer" was kind of depressing until I saw this.

I'm not a big fan of preseason games (who is?) but I do like that the arena rules are a little more relaxed as far as moving around and such. The free noon game against Atlanta a couple of years ago was great for those of us with thin wallets.

No Charlotte fail.

I have a 12 game with the Canes and a full season with the Checkers.

It would be nice to have on game in Charlotte again.

Trying to remember this far back, but did they announce a pre-season slate for 2005? If not then this is a good sign IMO.

You mean 04/05? If so, then yes - http://hurricanes.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=470383

Interesting, the '04 preseason was also set to have eight total games with three of them being on home ice. It's happening again.

Apparently TimeWarner is pretty booked up in September so they couldn't get the arena for a Charlotte game.

At first I thought 3 home games out of 8, that's a ripoff. Then I remembered they charge me for preseason games and I'm fine with only having to fork over more money for 2. You can pretty much count on that Sunday afternoon game to be the free game during the Caniac Carnival.

What? The NHL doesn't want to relocate the Hurricanes. They're one of the last teams that should be relocated. Islanders, Lightning, Panthers, Coyotes, Stars...those are the teams that should be talked about first.

That September 30 game at 2PM... that might mean that Caniac Carnival will be that day, which means I yet agai won't be there. As long as they keep scheduling Caniac Carnival on a Sunday, Panthers games will always take precedence for me. I still have never been able to go to a Caniac Carnival because of this.

Five games in a row is a bit much, even for pre-season isn't it?

Time Warner was built wrong from the start anyways.

It should have been built as a true multi use facility with the score board at Center Ice, not Half Court.

Last year the Canes played on my birthday in Charlotte.

Yeah, it really only makes sense if they're planning to do split-squads.
