The Official Stanley Cup Final Thread

Really, is anyone rooting for the Devils besides their fans? How can you not like the cinderella story of the Kings? Plus, we would all like to see Justin Williams hoist the Cup again. Either way, we're guaranteed to see the record for lowest seed ever to win the Cup broken.

The Canes were actually the worst, they got a high seed by virtue of playing in teh weakest conference ever, full of teams from cities that shouldn't even have teams.

I would guess most fans of the Ducks and the Sharks are not rooting for the Kings for obvious reasons.

Me I'm not sure who I'm rooting for. I have nothing against the Kings but as a fan of a team that has a Cup win under its belt, I kinda would like to have as many ''virgin'' teams as possible. Now if say Phoenix or Nashville made their way to the finals, I'd have no problem rooting for them unless Carolina was the opponent.

I suppose I'll be rooting for 7 games.

So you want the NHL to change the rules and force LA to win all 7 games?

I'm pulling for the Kings, but I have to admit I have a lot of respect for Jersey fans. Living in that area, it must be so tempting to wanna cheer for New York or Boston or Whatever, to actually support a team from Jersey is kinda cool

Except when they played Buffalo... the hands-down best team in the league that year (and perhaps of all-time). We all know that story... grand larceny!

We didn't (and still haven't) paid our dues. Buffalo deserved the cup that year, just like they deserved it in 1999, but that hack Brett Hull had to go and ruin it.

Go Kings! Quick is a CT native so I'm bound by hometown laws to root for him.

Plus, I think I'll vomit if Marty hoists another cup.

Kings all the way. They have to win. I want Williams to get another Cup and I just can't stomach Jersey winning it all.

The last few finals I was neutral as I really didn't care who won. I picked a team to cheer for, but if they didn't win, I would care. This finals, I do and will care who wins.

GO KINGS GO

The giant eff you that Richards and Carter being in the cup finals sends back to the Philly Org is pretty spectacular.

I normally don't like NJ, but Brodeur having one last run, after we'd all written him off a bit, is a nice story too. Also I like Kovalchuck shaking off the years of 'not being a winner', and leading the playoffs in scoring.

LOL I remember several guys being super pumped that we got Sova back in the deal and expected him to compete for a spot next year... I didn't know anything about him, but trust certain posters' judgments on prospects around here, and was equally excited.

And as the Canes struggle to ice a viable 4th line, Ryan Carter is excelling in that role in NJ.

The first thing I always do when I start a new "Be a GM" mode on NHL12, is sign Sean Avery, and trade picks//prospects for Zenon Konopka and Shawn Thornton and ice a 4th line of Thornton//Konopka//Avery.

We could feasibly do this, and tbh, I think it'd actually be *THE* most difficult line in NHL history to play against.

Discuss.

No matter who you all are rooting for, I'm sure we can agree at least this isn't another Wings-Pens final. That was what I thought it would be a few months ago. Still wish the 'Yotes had made it though, the whining would have been epic.

Over/under of 30 times this series that the NBC crew mentions that both captains are Americans...

Sad to see Nick Lidstrom retire. He's the last guy left from those mid-90s Red Wing teams that caused me to fall in love with hockey. Plus this all but assures Suter to Detroit.
