I'm sure you'd chant the same thing if you haven't seen a Stanley Cup in 45 years and a playoff berth in eight years. (I'm not trying to offend you guys, Toronto fans, just backing you up.)
Amazing. Some morons try to make a chant that fans of some junior teams used in the 1960's to be an anti Atlanta chant. Then try to pit Jets fans against Toronto fans.
At least Toronto and Winnipeg have fans that pay real prices for hockey tickets. (minus the free parking, hot dog and pop)
Do you know how many people in Winnipeg watch MLB? Probably 400-500 people and I heard that none of them were at the game tonight
Seriously, whoever thinks this is an attempt to mock Atlanta fans needs to realize that Jets fans don't watch baseball enough to make that connection. The goalie jeering is sometimes accompanied by a slightly different pointing gesture (Mickey Moose always does it); This seems like one of those weird things where someone thought that was the way it was done so they copied it and it just spread.
Butthurt fan who is offended by chanting way too much.
Nah, I could care less how much you chant, I think it's great that you have a good time. If it inspired Stamkos to #60, all the better! I was just having a laugh at the thread going so far off the subject.
I think he means as in the enormous amount of support the Leafs get through thick and thin. This team has always had a fanbase, it never had to move down to Phoenix for instance because leaf fans always backed their boys, even if they weren't winning. Now it's just reaching the boiling point, don't worry you'll get past the honeymoon phase too.

Not sure if you know why they actually had to move... Well, the main reasons anyway... But... Yeah. Not even gonna touch this one.

You fell into the trap. Sad
The original Jets did not move because of a lack of fans.

As long as I have a team to cheer for, the "honeymoon phase" will never end
yeah that's got nothing to do with atlanta. if it did they would have done the actual chop and not just done the same goalie chant the always do with the arm motions.
Any Canadian sports fan over the age of 26 knows the tomahawk chop. The Jays "stopped the chop" in 92. And if it doesn't come with a chant, it's not the tomahawk chop.
What is funny is, people are so concerned with it offending Atlantans, but Native North Americans have been complaining for years that it is offensive.

I was going to say that the arm movements tonight were unaccompanied by the borderline racsist chanting that goes with it at Braves games.
Anyone that thinks the Winnipeg fans want to somehow insult Atlanta Thrashers fans and that EVERYONE was in on it doesn't have their head on straight.

That is a ridiculous statement lol.
Every Kid that would grow up to be a sportsman in Canada watched the Blue Jays when they were 8+ years old. Perhaps a little Toronto centric thinking there.

I don't follow. You just repeated what I just said and then called me Toronto-centric.
Pretty cool, the entire crowd is doing it in unison. Love how the camera man kept the camera on roloson for a bit and zoomed in. Must be a somewhat intimidating feeling to go through that.
Other fanbases definitely do that kind of chant vs. opposing goalies; it's pretty common at Canucks games (not all of us do though!). That's never really made sense to me, if the fans' intention is to get the goalie off his game; I would think that, if anything, it would have the opposite effect. Roli has made it clear that he doesn't let that kind of stuff get to him or take him off his game, and I'm sure most other goalies who are "heckled" like that respond the same way. At least he got the win tonight, I'm sure that's all that mattered to him (and Stammer's 60th of course! ).
