The Ontario ECHL team has these I go since they do it at my local rink. They don't sign anyone.

Looks just like a way to get your $225. No thanks.

Often, they will guarantee only that a goalie, a forward and a defenseman will go through to the "real" training camp when they have open calls.

Stockton has also done this.

If nothing else, goalies might want to think about it as if there's an "emergency", you might get to sit on the bench and open the door (for pay).

Had no idea SF was even getting a team...so out of touch nowadays....how do they go about stocking their roster? is their some sort of expansion draft? or are they relocating from another market?

They are a new team starting from scratch. ECHL teams don't draft so they are pretty much responsible for filling their own roster through signings and NHL/AHL affiliations(the Bulls haven't announced a partnership yet).

Thornton and Marleau should join. It's the only chance they'll have to win a championship.

Thanks, interesting...I'm guessing they aren't really planning on getting many people through this open tryout though right? Suppose they have just scouted some undrafted kids from juniors and college, then added some guys released from other ECHL/AHL teams... might be a rough first year?

ECHL does not have expansion draft.

Bulls are an expansion team, not relocating from any where.

Teams submit a "qualifying" roster at end of season (of those players/rights they'd like/plan to retain). So, those not on those lists become UFAs.

Teams can also trade players (sometimes for only "future considerations"). During the season, sometimes teams have to release a player, so that player is then available for any team to sign.

GM/coach Curacio recently got back from Canada where he was scouting for players. Apparently it won't be until the end of the month that any signings are announced. Former Shark Mark Pederson is assistant coach.

Team has indicated they're working on a NHL affiliation, but it won't be announced until July or August. (Based on comments/they way things have played out, my assumption is they'll be affiliating with Sharks.)

Website: sfbulls.com
They are also on Twitter, Facebook, Youtube.

One of the worst kept secrets in hockey right now is the Sharks will be affiliating with SF. Don't expect a ton players owned by SJ to play there though, likely just goaltenders.

Does anyone believe this team or an AHL team will make it in the Bay Area?

the issue is the cow palace is a ****ing dump. If you go to a thunder game that place is awesome. I dont see how the bulls make it unless they find some nicer digs.

In reading Bull PR and news stories, it sounds like they have put a lot (probably more than tens of thousands if not 6 figures) of dollars into refurbishing Chateau Bovine. Pictures look pretty good.

I went to the open house, it appears the bathrooms and concourses have been upgraded ( I dont know if that was the bulls or not) but the arena bowl seems just like it did when the Sharks left.

I love the feeling of the Cow Palace. So nostalgic. Like LS said, they are making some major upgrades. My ticket rep said that they spent a ton of money on a new scoreboard. Can't wait for October!

I received an invite to a Bulls special event with Coach Curcio, Bret Hedican, and Kristi Yamaguchi at Yerba Buena Ice Skating Center, next week. Sounds like a good excuse to take a day off work

I got a phone call from someone in the Bulls office the other day, and they left a message for me to call 'em back. But i kinda' refuse to return their phone calls anymore lest they give me the hard sell on season tickets... for the umpteenth time.

Anyway, sounds like a good time. Have fun!
