Do Canuck fans really think this? With the exception of Richardson's post goal cheap shot on one of the Sedins and Clifford's mugging of Weise earlier this year I can't remember any overly physical/dirty play in recent years. I think most Kings fans think the team is a little too soft, certainly no where close to Boston's physicality/pesty behavior. Fraser is really the only guy on the roster that actively attempts to start crap with opponents. Clifford, Nolan, Greene, Mitchell and Richards typically only fight when provoked (although Clifford and Nolan are heavy hitters). Brown only fights when he gets jumped. Not trying to be a dick, I'm legitimately curious
It's more the attempt of being tough not actually being tough.
As much as it pains me, the Canucks deal with the Kings in quick fashion. 5 games, maybe 6 if the Kings fluke out a win along the way. Quick won't be the saviour and the Canucks will come with a wider front than the Kings can. I'd love to be wrong, though.
Man you guys love to jinx yourselves... I would cringe at any Cup imagery used in LA like that.
We have seen the worst way to lose possible, or damn close to it, and that was when we were nervous. This time, we're going for the carefree approach and see if it nets better results.
If nothing else, it certainly isn't anywhere near as stressful.
Should be a great series! Wednesday night can't come quick enough. I'm predicting Canucks will win this series in 5 games. Quick will play well but the rest of team won't score enough. The Canucks have been waiting for this 2nd chance at the cup since June, they won't be letting the Kings get in their way.
I wonder which line will have to go up against Sammy Pahlsson every shift this series. That will be lots of fun.
When people say we lack depth... No we have two of the most frustrating checking lines you can imagine. Lapierre was not on for a playoff goal against until the finals, Pahlsson's playoff abilities are legendary, Hansen is in your face non stop with great speed and checking skills, Malhotra cleans out in the face-off circle and is a very effective checker. These guys can chip in a bit as well. And of course Selke winning Ryan Kesler in the top 6 shutting down whoever he goes against. Our forwards are incredibly responsible defensively.
Our bottom 6 will shock people that haven't watched us much this season. It's a very underrated group.
Here's something for you to do if you feel it's important to back up claims you make: Go look at the last 40 games for the Kings this year. Of those 40, figure out the GPG for the first 20 games. Then figure out the GPG for the last 20 games of the season. Compare that GPG number to the top offensive teams in the league. Then come back here and tell us if you'd like to revise your thoughts on LA's current offensive production.
Maybe if you feel its important not to come across like a dick, you shouldn't write posts in that tone. Then you can come back and tell us your thoughts on your new life as a reasonable human.
LA has scored 60 goals in the last 20 games. That's good for 3 goals a game, which pro rated over the year would put you in the top 5. Which is great, but its only over a 20 game stretch. The reason those top 5 offenses are impressive is because they were the top-5 over a whole season.
In the 20 games previous to that, LA scored 45 goals, good for 2.25 a game, which would put LA... about where there are on the season - 29th.
You got pretty mad at my opinion, but your argument is thin. Time will tell which LA Kings we'll see.
Actually the Kings' PP has been on fire lately, a la the series we had against you guys 2 years ago.
As far as scoring goes, it has been WAY up since the trade deadline. 58 goals (not including "goal" for SO goals) in 19 games = 3.05 GF/game. In that same time frame Van only put up 45 goals in 19 games = 2.37 GF/game.
Anyways, hoping for a good, clean, exciting series. I think it'll go 7. GO KINGS!!

would it be realistic to compare our bottom 6 to previous cup winners or finalists in the past. maybe even better?
for example:pittsburgh had malone,jarrko ruttuu,george larques,talbot,staal among others.
That's right baby. A Cup and a Conn Smythe to go along with it. No Art Ross and President's Trophy for that man. Regular season trophies are for losers.

As is getting 1 goal in 7 games when the team gets hit by the cap and you have to prove that you are for real.

Easy tough guy - we as Kings fans are tired of explaining again and again that the offensive problems from before the trade deadline are no longer an issue, when people are just lazily looking at the Goals For column on year-long stats and making cut-and-dry judgements.
Using the last 20 games is not some arbitrary cutoff point - it represents a real, fundamental change in the dynamic of the team. Besides the addition of Carter, our big boys King and Nolan had only been called up 7 games before, and - I believe but can't prove - Sutter increasingly began molding the team more in his image. After all, he was brought on board in the middle of the season and had to go through a feeling-out period.
