He had forty eight points and was plus 11. Lidstrom was minus 2. He also won a silver medal while partnered up with Suter on team USA the year before. He was done. He has been in five stanley cup finals and won three of them. There wasn't much left for him to do.
Alright, I'll go all stats on your ass, if you want.
Rafalski played against third-tier opposition. Worse than Ericsson and almost as bad as Salei. He had the second easiest zone starts (behind Salei, again). He faired pretty well against them, but not as well as White is doing against top-competition.
If you insist, Rafalski and Ian are sort of a wash, but the rest of the team is better. Lidstrom had a pretty bad year last season but has been very good this season.

We were outplayed, despite the score. In what world is Detroit worse than last season? White is an upgrade on an over-the-hill Rafalski, Hudler is playing pretty well, Filpula and Zetterberg have great chemistry, Howard is much, much better, and Datsyuk is the same as ever.
SSS. There was one period in the first three games where the Sharks were absolutely brutal (and came out of it tied) and that skewed the ratings for the two teams head to head.
I guess this deserves to get buried, so I'll post it here. I've refused to post it for jinx purposes as stupid as that seems. But I've felt that the Sharks have not been as physical etc.. trying to stay healthy. Keeping players off the roster that weren't that hurt to keep them a little fresher. Not go into this PO's as banged up as they have been in the past in order to really have a shot in the playoffs.
Props to Sacto for posting exactly what I've been thinking.

I think Vlasic trolling the Kings after the Richards goal was the catalyst play that got this team back in the game. From that point on, they owned the Kings.
I was sitting in 221 tonight and a dude in the row in front of me puked all over himself, it was crazy. Felt so bad for him.
You get that sort of crowd when you sit in the cheap seats
I would have loved the effort and energy that the Sharks put into the third period if it was any other game. I'd still rather play Vancouver, but I guess the coaching staff and players wanted St. Louis, because they definitely said some things in the dressing room that got themselves motivated.

You make a good point there. Pickles really sparked the team there. Hes starting to develop into something of a leadership role.
I mean, where is the ceiling with this guy. Captain material? Think about it. Last year did any of us thought that he'd have offensive capabilities AT ALL? Two seasons ago did we think he would ever fight? That he would become such a staple of the team after we first met him?

I think they have shied away from physicality because of the abysmal penalty kill as well. Not worth standing up for Couture if it means a penalty kill and likely goal against.

Really now, WHAT is his ceiling?
He went from lovable rookie to whipping boy who only trolls french canadians, to defensive beast who trolls everyone.
Wasn't sure where else to put this, but here is my mom (A lifelong Sharks season ticket holder) getting Burns jersey on Fan Appreciation night. Here's to hoping it brings us good luck.

Good lord she makes Burns look like a giant. He's got to have almost two feet on her standing up. Awesome though
