I wonder what's going on in Vancouver to need a 3 day break from the 19th to the 22nd?
Ahh, the summit series. Wish I could've been alive for it, but dvd's will have to do.
Four of us watched Game 8 in a buddy's basement rec room (called a rumpus room in those days).
We were having a few wobbly pops (well more than a few) and when Henderson scored the winning goal one guy leapt in the air with his arms outstretched, hit the ceiling (low) and broke a couple of fingers. I do not think he initially felt it with the self administered pain deadening Molson's medication.
After awhile the pain was so bad we had to call his girlfriend to come and get him and take him to the emergency ward.
Make a super charged checking line of Malhotra-Pahlsson-Hansen against Kopitar's line. Re-unite the AMEX line to go head to head with Richards and Carter. Sedin-Sedin-Burrows (hopefully) can feast on whoever.
Yeah. I don't get why Higgins isn't a consistent 2nd liner based on effort alone.
I want to see Higgins, Booth and Kesler be RIGHT in Quick's crease.
I'm calling Vancouver in 5 and a melt down on special teams for LA. Primarily due to havoc in front of Quick that he can't overcome.
Craig Button's most brilliant move as Calgary GM IMHO...
Releasing Martin St. Louis in 2000 who the signed as free agent with TBL - and the rest is history. Of course St. Louis was instrumental in defeating the Flames in the 2004 SCF.
He hired Don Hay as head coach who lasted 68 games.
He signed Roman Turek to along term deal and Turek proceed to play like Dan Cloutier in play-off form - and the Flames won only 19 of the remaining 63 games after the signing. The Flames finished 11th in the Western Conference, 15 points back of the 8th place Vancouver Canucks. This was the sixth consecutive season the Flames failed to qualify for the post-season.
That pattern seems to be repeating itself in Calgary.
I hope it doesn't make it to game 6, because I'll be in Vegas watching Phantom of the Opera during game 6, and on a plane from Vegas to Vancouver during game 7...
