Anyone else sick of hearing commentators use the "can they match the physical play" card, when discussing the Canucks.
Keenan just referenced us being able to match LA's physical play, like we couldn't against Boston.
Doesn't it make Chicago, Nashville and San Jose even softer than Vancouver considering the Canucks beat them.
I just feel its a cop-out as a broadcaster to pull that card. Get some new material. Even Don Cherry quit beating that drum.
We're a pretty physical team. I'm pretty sure we out-hit all of our opponents last post season (especially Chicago; we rag-dolled them). I don't get this crap at all. They are probably mistaking the Bruin's disgusting antics last year as "physical play."

It's a myth that the media likes to play up. The Bruins had their after the whistle scrums which the Canucks were told to avoid by management for the entire season. The refs let the Bruins run wild and hack/slash/punch us in the face and they got away with it.
In terms of actually physicality during the play, we can battle with anyone. Our hitting last playoffs was unbelievable. Just ask Toews. Hell, I saw quick clip of Toews today and he was talking about the hitting in the Canucks series and how the hawks were on the receiving end of it. Seemed pretty depressed by it.
I think the Kings are a lot like Chicago of last season - they're a very, very strong 8th seed. They've been the best team in the league since the trade-deadline in terms of possession and have stellar goaltending to boot.
I think the Canucks might be a little better; should be a great series but I'd be surprised if it doesn't go at least 6 games.
Unless there is an injury I expect Reinprecht will stay with Chicago until they are knocked of the play-offs. Chicago is already thin down the middle with Bitz called up.
Yeah, thought he'd stay down there until we really needed him. Better him playing then sitting in the pressbox rusty. I wouldn't mind seeing what he can do though. Any chance we can just send Bitz back down and bring up Reinprecht if needed?

Kings and Sharks had good possession numbers. It seemed like the Coyotes would have made the best opponent in the 1st rnd. Ah well. Got to go through another tough team in the 1st rnd again.
It should go 6, maybe even 7. I don't get why people are saying 4 or 5. That just seems really off to me.

However the hot team in this series is Vancouver who chased down NYR and the Blues.
Yes, and the team that fights for their playoff lives like the Kings did (two regulation losses in their last fourteen games) almost inevitably is beat-up, tired, and doesn't have another gear to sustain them for a 7-game series against an elite team that's played at that level for the entire season.
The Kings have a chance if the Canucks severely underperform, but it would be a shocking upset that would probably mean the end of one of AV or Luongo in Vancouver -- if not both. I just don't see it.
Canucks may not have looked dominant, but they had a record of 41-13-8 tear over the last 3/4 of the season. Pretty tall order for a shallow Kings team.
The only thing I know is that Willie Mitchell was never the fastest player with us. He has not gotten any faster in the mean time. I hope the Canucks can burn him with their speed.
The only concern I have is Quick. I always have an irrational fear of goalies stealing a series from us. Well, last year it wasn't so irrational. Sigh.....

“Now the fun starts. This is the exciting part of the season, something we’ve all been waiting for. Not only the team but I think the city, so it’s going to be fun.”
— Henrik Sedin
Did you hear that y'all? The fun's about to start!
