Oh what it's like to be young and in Highschool. I remember being able to do that too. Now finals and Playoffs hit at the same time (for me quite literally both this year and last with 7PM exams), have to study for most of the first round. After that I'm free though. NYAH!

Senators are slightly worse at 240, and they got a lot of **** for having a porous defense.

Don't forget the Hawks play in the West, where scoring is generally lower. Their defense isn't that good at shutting down players and their goaltending is awful. When they were passable in those aspects (i.e. Campbell, Niemi in net) their stacked forward group did the rest (Ladd/Versteeg/Bolland/Brouwer all playing Bottom 6 roles). But now they'll need their rookies to suddenly go clutch to keep up the scoring pace or they won't even get past the Coyotes.

I think that Chicago is actually better than their record this year.

Having said that, Phoenix could be their worst nightmare. Dave Tippett coached teams are similar to Ken Hitchcock coached teams...they check like demons all over the ice and rely on a fast counter attack for offense. Suspicions about the Chicago defense and goaltending are common even on their own board.

The Hawks are my choice to be upset in he first round.

Luckily I'm done early this year (20th), cause I remember that 3rd intermission of game 7 with my last exam the next day... wondering if I'd get to see a playoff game without the threat of a final.

2 years ago I had,

2 exams - Game 1 vs Kings - 2 exams the next day.

I have finals during round 1 too, but it's not like I'd choose studying over watching the playoffs!

The Sun, as you point out, is a crap newspaper, worse even than the Province, but the two articles on the Canucks are hardly anything to get upset about (and I'm not saying KDizzle is upset). They're attempts to be funny, and the worst that can be said is that they're unoriginal and dull.

Sour grapes from eastern canada who will likely have to stay up past their bed times to watch a Canadian hockey team past the first round.

Fact is once Ottawa is bounced their pay checks are going to be entirely dependant on the Canucks winning games.

Nah, I want Chicago to win so we get a crack at them. For once it would be epic to finish them off properly. No comebacks or meltdowns. I swear, while the cup is obviously number one. I would absolutely love to see Luongo go 4-1 or sweep Chicago. HF would die from the shock.

During the Chicago series last year, I had a hsci final during game 3. Our prof knew everyone was anxious to find out what was happening so she kept us updated by writing the score on the overhead. Everyone cheered whenever she updated it and the Canucks scored

Edit: Brain fart. Was game 3.

Why would anyone cheer though? Game 5 the score was 5-0 Chicago last year.

EDIT: I see.

Tbh, after we beat Chicago last year, it felt like winning the Cup. Didn't even celebrate that hard after we beat Nashville or SJ.

I don't know, so many people are handing this one straight to Chicago, it would be really funny to see them get Coyote'd.

920 replies would seem to suggest we needed a place to discuss the game and series.

that depends

if we lose because luongo blows it again, i won't be too mad, probably means he's on his way out and we give full reins to schneider

if we lose because our offense sucked, i'll probably be mad, since we're likely stuck with the sedins (although kesler is moveable)

if we lose to either the rangers, devils, or sens in the finals, i'll be mad

if we lose to the broons or the hawks i'll be really mad

Except right now they are saying he's 95-98% (at least what media in Chicago has been reporting). Pretty much killed that excuse unless he gets hurt game 1 (wouldn't be a shocker given Chicago is one team to rush players back).

EDIT: At least the general gist of how the game was going, not necessarily the score.
