TV Coverage Bruins Caps - Canada / USA

So, is TSN covering the 1st round matchup vs. the Caps in Canada?

Who is covering in the USA - NESN?

Post any info here (was hoping for Ottawa and CBC - at least that was guaranteed coverage here in Canada)!

I believe NESN has the 1st round feed and then from there on out it switches over to NBC / NBCSN.

Remember how the 1st round ended on NESN? I've seen it posted on these boards a few times...

NESN is local to New England. The national coverage will be with NBC/NBCSN, and I think NHLN will carry some games as well.

NHLN...great. Got to love NON-HD hockey. Arghhh.

Hope TSN2 carries the series - because I am sure they will carry Pens-Flyers on TSN1.

I hope not too, I can understand Matinee regular season games, playoff hockey should always be played at night IMO, Bruins games or otherwise

don't worry , it will be a afternoon game. Happens every year. They put primetime playoff match-ups on at 12:30 on a saturday and hope to get bigger ratings than at 7:30 pm .

I'll also put my money on an afternoon game. If it was vs. Senators, it would be a night game for HNIC.

Damnit, Capitals!

I've gotten lucky the past several years with the Bruins games not appearing on TSN2, which I do not have and as my cable is provided with my rent, cannot purchase TSN2, I was hoping for Ottawa just to guarantee the games be on my TV here in Canada, if the Defending Champs get "relegated" to TSN2 for Pens-Flyers or Wings-Nashville, I'm gonna be very upset.

Question, I thought I saw a commercial that said for the first time ever, all playoff games would be aired on the NBC family of networks.

Am I making that up? If not, how does that work with regional network having first round rights?

Everything gets split between NBC (weekends only), NBC Sports Network, CNBC, and NBC Universal (which is like channel 292 or some such thing)

All the Bruins games will be on NESN for round 1, unless NBC (the network) airs a game on Saturday or Sunday afternoon. It will air nationally to the rest of the country outside the Boston region on the cable NBC network that has the game.

Building availability:
Verizon Center has a NBA game on Wednesday April 18. So they can't go every other day in this series. Game 1 and 2 is Thurs-Sat and that is a given. Games 3 and 4 are going to be Mon-Tues or Mon-Thurs, and I bet Mon-Thurs.

As for being on NBC (meaning a matinee game): Keep in mind that Pittsburgh-Philadelphia is preferable for NBC. But Boston-Washington is probably second since New York is playing a Canadian team.

I'd be shocked if CBC didn't pick the Boston/Washington series. Cup Champs/big Canadian following vs. Ovechkin.

Canadian Network Draft Order and Predictions

1. CBC - Vancouver/Los Angeles
2. CBC - New York/Ottawa
3. TSN - Pittsburgh/Philadelphia
4. CBC - Boston/Washington
5. TSN - Detroit/Nashville
6. CBC - Phoenix/Chicago
7. TSN - St. Louis/San Jose
8. TSN - Florida/New Jersey

The only real question for me is what series CBC picks at 6.

Just announced the schedule and networks. The only change-up here is these two bolded ones. TSN took Chicago, and CBC went with Detroit.

All in EST, and on CBC for Canadian TV

Game 1 - Thursday, April 12, 7:30 pm (NBC Sports Network)
Game 2 - Saturday, April 14, 3:00 pm (NBC)
Game 3 - Monday, April 16, 7:30 pm (NBC Sports Network)
Game 4 - Thursday, April 19, 7:30 pm (NBC Sports Network)
Game 5 - Saturday, April 21, 3:00 pm (NBC)
Game 6 - April 22, TBD (TBD)
Game 7 - April 25, TBD (TBD)

Sucks that we have 2 afternoon games (and possibly 3 depending on when they schedule game 6; I'd bet on it being in the afternoon though).

Well, CBC picks it up and Canadians might get screwed ANYWAYS.

Games 1 and 3 overlap with OTTAWA-NYR and we don't get NBC sports network here.

Talk about suckage.

There's a CBC affiliate called CHEX in Ontario that will have the game and it'll also be streamed online.

We don't get CHEX in Alberta. And CBC's online feed sucks. I'm not a happy camper.

Don't believe so. In the past CBC has always used CPAC and CBCNews Network to carry the beginning of the game until the first game ends and then switch over. CBC owns way to many channels for it not to be on somewhere

I'm sure it will be on if the games overlap, but it will probably be in standard def, which should be illegal by the way.

I've got BOLD in HD. I hope they show it there. They've offloaded some sports programming on there recently.

That's the only HD possibility for me on Thursday night.

Here's the First Round schedule for the Canadian channels:

TSN and TSN2: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/feature/?id=29181

CBC: http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockeynightincanada/broadcast/

Looks like there will be no coverage on CBC of Games 1 and 3.

I'm guessing that since there are only 2 Canadian teams in the Playoffs that there will be pressure on the CBC to show both series on the entire CBC network. But until I see otherwise I'm holding out hope that Games 1 and 3 do end up airing here in BC.

Yep, Canadian Bruins fans getting the shaft here. Either watch a crappy stream online or an SD broadcast on TV channel that you may or may not even have. Wow.
