Your first round predictions and wishes

What are everyone's first round predictions and wishes? I figured I wouldn't ask about the Cup yet, but rather go round-by-round.

Anyway, here are my predictions:

Rangers in 4
Bruins in 6
Flyers in 6
Devils in 5

Canucks in 5
Sharks in 7
Chicago in 6
Red Wings in 6

My wishes, on the other hand, would be Senators, Capitals, Flyers, Devils, Canucks, Blues, Coyotes and Nashville.

I think the Panthers will win the first round.

I see the Flyers sneaking by the Pens after trailing for most of the series. Flyers will get JVR and Mesz back for round two but will lose Grossmann and Timonen while battling the Pens as they will reaggrevate their nagging injuries. (Flyers are eliminated in round two because the can't matchup any longer due to their depleted roster.)

Panthers series is wishful thinking, but I think they are an underrated team. I really don't know who will win Flyers-Pens so I am just going with my heart on that one. It's going to be a serious war I think.

I know there's not much stock in regular season series, but the Eastern Conference 'underdog' won every season series.
  • Ottawa won 3 of 4 versus New York
  • Washington won 3 of 4 versus Boston
  • Florida was 2-1-1 versus New Jersey
  • Philly won 4 of 6 versus Pittsburgh

Makes for an interesting first round in the East.

My own predictions:

New York in 5
Boston in 7
Florida in 6
Pittsburgh in 6

Vancouver in 5
St. Louis in 6
Chicago in 6
Nashville in 5

Lol I am picking against us because we are going against a very good team that is completely healthy while we are missing Pronger, Meszaros, and JVR. Not to mention we have a team full of rookies and some others without playoff experience. Saying that, I couldn't be happier with how this team played this year and they surpassed my expectations. Future is bright.

I know. I'm kiddin. I "HOPE" we win. I do believe its totally up in the air. I don't have a strong sense because i really thing the kids on the flyers...couts, read, and now that schenn has turned it on are being underestimated for what they can contribute. I don't even want JVR back. I'd take Pronger standing on the bench just being there would help.

I stink at predictions, so I'll go with wishes. My first round wish is that by some strange clause in their contracts Malkin, Crosby and Letang all are forced to travel to sayyyy... Australia for some strange commercial, then while they're there the Aussie air traffic controllers go on strike and all return flights are grounded for 2 weeks.

I'm confident playing the Penguins...the Rangers, not so much. We don't match up well against them for whatever reason.

Keys to the series

1) Bryzgalov

2) Not being down in the first period or first 10 mins at all consistently as they have been doing. First few games they can overcome it if they are not down by more than two goals but after that it will be too taxing.

3) Fairly balanced officiating (not holding my breath)

4) Need star quality offensive production from at least a couple of players like G and Briere to offset the likes of Crosby and Malkin.

5) Special teams!

Prediction: Flyers in 7
