Isn't Grimaldi supposed to have more skill than Gaudreau? Haven't heard much of Grimaldi since draft though, wonder how he is doing.
I am not so sure about that, I think they have similar skillsets and upsides.
The major reason as to why Rocco received so much hype was due to the program he was playing for last season [and the season's before]. Grimaldi led the U.S. National Development Team in scoring so of course he was going to get a ton of publicity and attention from scouts.
Johnny Gaudreau tore apart the USHL for a lesser recognized program, so I think what he did went a little unrecognised by many.

I found out Grimaldi tore his knee and has only played 4 games this season.
I am glad we never picked Rocco, he is very forthright and almost pushy about his religious beliefs. He caused a bit of a stir for tweeting about how women dress and how men give into temptation because of women wearing so little.
Yeah, what was up with that? It's one thing to be religious it's another to be aggressively pushing it to others.
Beaulieu was higher rated going into the draft and I thought with the 11th pick you have to go BPA, I am sure as hell glad to eat crow tho as Sven could be a steal at 11 also getting Gaudreau who could have the most skill out of all americans drafted as made my impression on the scouting staff change a fair bit. We had been getting better with our drafts the last few years but last year literally every pick looks like a pick for skill over size and need something we haven't done in a while. We usually have a safe pick or two but last year we kinda said **** it and drafted 100% on talent.
teravainen would fit perfectly he's so good he is a better version of collberg who draws comparison's too pominville or ennis i love teravainen would fit so well in CGY.
I want them to take one of the following 4 forwards:
Gaunce
Pearson
Teravainen
Girgensons
Not sure how much choice they'll have but I'd imagine atleast one will be available
I like Gaunce and he is most likely our pick but to me he seems safe and a Sutter type of pick. If a forward with a larger upside but more bust potential is available I think I would go with him.
We gave enough safe pick depth players to last a few more drafts, we still need impact players so I'd go with another skill risk pick. Teravenen looks good!
Wow. Button's mock at the end of the lottery show as brutal. Almost as brutal as Edmonton winning the lottery to draft 1st for the third straight year...
