6 defencemen - Murray, Dumba, Reilly, Trouba, Reinhart, Ceci

8 forwards - Yakupov, Grigorenko, Galcheynuk, Forsberg, Teurainevan, Collberg, Gaunce, Faksa

14 in total. We pick 14th. We will get a very good player. And if someone other than the 14 above goes in top 13 we will have our choice of 2 really good players.

i suspect those^ good d-men will be gone unfortunately at #14, but Gaunce, Teuraninevan, or Collberg might still be there. what would it cost the Flames i wonder to try to trade up and get the Caps second 1st round pick, #11 pick?

I don't want to give up any assets for a higher pick. Last year we got Sven at 13 and I think he has been one of the best players drafted so I trust the scouting staff to pick someone good at 14 ( not as good as Sven)

This is a really good way of looking at it. Gets me excited for the draft

Just wondering what you maybe offer to get Winnipegs 9th to get shot at Reinhart, or Ducks 6th to get shot at Grig/Galy etc.
I don't know much about what's in Calgary minor system.
I also don't see any assets on your team with exception to your core Iginla, Bou, Kipper, so don't really see your team as having assets to move up in this years draft...but could be very, very wrong.

What do people think about girgensons? He is projected mid 1st round and I've read some good things about him. Potential high up side, gritty, good size. Think he's overlooked as he plays ushl. I wouldn't be unhappy if we picked him

we probably have a pretty good book on him too from the time we spent watching Gaudreau as well

Scouting report says he doesn't have elite skillset and lower ceiling than others in the top 15.

would love to have that big number 1 centre, but either way we just need to pick BPA and we should get another solid prospect.

I think that our pick will come down to either gaunce or Colberg, or If we include Girgenson. I think if that happens we take Colberg though I haven't heard a lot about him.
Profile on Colberg:
Along with Filip Forsberg and Pontus Aberg, Sebastian Collberg makes up a corps of highly skilled wingers that headline the Swedish contingent at this year’s draft. At 5-foot-11, Collberg doesn’t have the ideal size that Forsberg has, but does possess great speed, great hands and excellent one-on-one moves that were on full display when he scored 7 points in 6 games at the World Juniors, outshining the more highly regarded Forsberg. Collberg has what some scouts have described as an NHL-caliber release on his wrist shot and have similarly praised Collberg’s offensive awareness and ability to put himself into prime goal-scoring position. While Collberg will likely need some time to bulk up and round out all the areas of his game, his impressive performance at the World Juniors could be a sign of things to come for this promising young Swede. Sebastian Collberg projects to be a speedy, goal-scoring winger in the NHL.

Comparable: Ales Hemsky

Excellent point. I did sort of want us to move up a bit but after a hard look at that list, and realizing that the least we'll end up with is one of those names, I'm just fine with staying at 14 and letting the chips fall where they may. Wish we had a couple second rounders though.

Another player I think the flames should go after in the 3rd/4th round is Austin Czarnix. Undrafted last year but after watching he play at the world juniors I say we should try and get him. He is small but very quick and get put up points. Low risk, high reward pick, kinda like gaudreau.

The guy before you asked what is being said about him. It didn't quote both posts.

I merely brought up his name as depending on what management is looking for, at pick 14 there should be a good defenceman, scoring winger or beefy, hard working centre available. All with good potential. Pick 14 is not ideal, but it isn't the end of the world either. And there is every chance a projected top 10 pick might fall into our laps like Sven did. Fingers crossed.

I think a lot of teams in the top 10 are picking forwards this year so there's a good chance a good Dman will fall to us.

This team has so many needs one pick just wont do it.

Alex Galchenyuk is now ranked #14 by ISS.

I'd be okay if the Flames were "stuck" with him.

Ever since 2009 when I (and others) were clamouring for Sutter to take Jordan Schroeder (I was disappointed with Erixon since he was projected to go in the 2nd round), I have learned not to worry too much about who the Flames select. Of course I would prefer a better pick so that they can get a guy higher on their list but there will be some good talent at fourteen. I probably overreacted last game of the season but mediocrity hurts.

Getting Galchenyuk at 14 would be pretty incredible.

No kidding. If someone suggested he'd have a chance of falling that far even a month ago, they'd be laughed off this site.

There's no way I'd think we'll have a shot at Dumba but he's ranked 11th(?)... who knows what will happen before the draft. I think we'll be looking at a pretty good player either way, looking at that top 14.

Speaking of different scouting lists, lol at Button. http://www.tsn.ca/draftcentre/feature/?id=49649

I'd have no problem with that...at #14, i just want someone who can out the puck in the net.

Getting a d-man at 14 would not be such a crime, but seems to me the flames biggest issue down the stretch was scoring goals, so i am thinking all offense.
