Meh, this is playoff hockey. I don't think much is too out of hand, outside of what Weber did. Uncalled for easily. Pens/Flyers didn't even have a fight, and there were only a couple "remembering" hits. Same with this game in Vancouver. WAY too many penalties being called though. Really takes away from the flow of the games.

My guesses for tonight.

Philly wins 4-1
Nashville wins 3-2 in 1st OT
LA Wins 6-5 in 1st OT
Philly wins 4-3 OT
Nashville wins 3-2 but in regulation
LA Vancouver isn't close to my prediction but could go to OT at this rate.

It could go a lot longer than that too at this rate. Quick and Luongo are playing pretty damn good.

Edit: Welp, Penner made me lie. Quick holds them off and Kings win in regulation now.

Parity is at an all time high. The league has never been better or more exciting.

LOL at Vancouver claiming LA got lucky in this game. Please!!!! Luongo was the only reason why the Canucks even had a chance in this game and it wasn't enough as Penner scored late in the 3rd.

Round 1 is going to be awesome. But with this kind of parity, teams are going to be exhausted and depleted by the time they reach the conference finals.

If this becomes the norm, the league might want to trim the first couple rounds to 5 games.

The maximum the league is allowed to fine a player for an on-ice play is $2500. For Weber on his $7.5m contract that would be 1/3000th of his salary. The choice between fining him or doing nothing at all is a rounding error.

Glad LA won. They're probably the only other Pacific team I could root for. Plus I ****ing hate Vancouver.

I wish I was going, but somebody has to stay behind and keep our GDT flowing.

I'm not going either. I'm hoping by the end of this week my job condition improves, just waiing on a background check to complete. But I will say, if it is clear, and I complete the training program of 12 weeks, and get a spot in Phoenix, my first investment after getting my budget in check is Coyotes season tickets.

Wow I didn't know that. I think that pretty much guarantees he gets a game then. Someone needs to be punished and made an example of that you can't be careless. That sucks I want Nashville to win.

I'll be here too...maybe.

I'm not going to the game but depending on where I watch the game, I may or may not be on this GDT.

The limits are negotiated in the CBA between the NHL and the players union. It makes sense the NHLPA would want to keep the maximum allowed fines as low as possible for their members. On the flip side it means handing out suspensions is the only meaningful discipline option the league has available to use.

I want Weber to get suspended, even if I want Nashville to win. I would be absolutely pissed if someone did that to one of our guys.

Weber stopped at 1 face smash into the turnbuckle. By wrestling standards he's got at least 9 more to go before the referee will disqualify him.

But what if the turnbuckle was exposed?

Nashville should consider themselves very very lucky here as Weber only got a $2500 fine. Call me shocked!!!

Quote:
Nashville Predators defenseman Shea Weber has been fined $2,500, the maximum allowed under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for delivering a blow to the head of Detroit forward Henrik Zetterberg in Game 1 of the teams' Western Conference Quarterfinal series in Nashville on Wednesday, April 11, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 20:00 of the third period. Weber was assessed a minor penalty for roughing.
