Most Likely First Round Series To Have Marathon OT?

Everyone loves a good marathon OT in Playoff hockey.

Which first round matchup do you think will have a 2+ OT period?

I'm going to go with Nasvhille/Detroit or Florida/New Jersey.

Florida/Jersey

The Panthers don't know that a hockey game can end in regulation.

Vancouver loves their overrtime and I don't see Quick letting anything in until he's faced around 100000 shots.

Vancouver/LA, or Detroit/Nashville. It seems like these long OT games are more suited to the western conference.

SJ/STL. Tight defense.

Canucks/Kings- I see at least one Quick/Luongo duel going deep into sudden death.

I honestly think they all have a good opportunity to have a 2nd-3rd OT Only ones I doubt are NYR/OTT and BOS/WSH

Kings/Canucks oor Rangers/Sens. All 4 have goalies that can save the teams ass multiple times.

STL/SJ

St. Louis will forecheck SJ and force many turnovers, unfortunately their lack of game breakers will result in no overtime goals.

San Jose won't be able to gain possession past the neutral zone and when they do their gamebreakers won't be able to beat Halak.

Pittsburgh - Philadelphia. I can see game three going the distance.

I was going to say LA/VAN, but then I ran the numbers on total goals scored in games that playoff teams were involved in (G/G + GA/G), and LA/VAN came out to 9.63 when both teams were added, but SJ/STL came out to 9.57...

So, I'm going to go with SJ/STL, given the low scoring likelihood overall.

Yeah, its gotta be Florida and Jersey. Jersey's not exactly an offensive team and Florida has relied on Defense all year. Brodeur has the edge there, you'd think, but he has played 59 damn games. Jeez, get a back up guys. lol

I expect Van/L.A should have at least 2-3 games that go to O.T, should be a great series.

And Florida and N.J of course

Do you really think 59 games is a lot? 11 of the 15 other starting goaltenders in the playoffs played more than that. It is abnormal for back-ups on teams to get much more than about 25% of the games unless there is an injury or a platoon situation (which is uncommon).

FLA wont last IMO, i think theyre the first team to get knocked out. Nothing aginst them but theyre just not physical team at all. NJ will just keep leaning on them til the panthers are worn out.
