Could HFBoards Support A Real Hockey Team?

Have no clue where would be the best section to place this.

However, I saw that HF boards has over 100,000 members and nearing 39 Million posts.

I have to wonder, could HF Boards support an AHL team or an NHL team?

On a pure fanbase level I feel we'd make out okay no?

P.S. This is a legitimate question, it's a funny what if, but also a testament to the vastness of the forum.

yes we would

just being on HF alone means that you are extremely interested in hockey in general

I guess I wouldn't want to bring it up too much, but how many HF members could afford substantial amount of tickets?

Also, how many fair-weather fans would we have?

Going to several AHL games every year I definitely think this forum could support that, but NHL might be a tad too pricy.

I remember someone a month ago saying that if we all put in 60$ we could buy the Coyotes

We would be the most ruthless fanbase of all time. No one would want to play for us.

Only if it's located in Hamilton/Quebec City, and players over the age of 25 are dumped.

150 Million/100,000=$1,500 a piece

Though how many people are active enough to care?

I do think it's a nice idea though ( maybe for the business section ).

If some of the more consistent members here all pitched in anywhere between $50 and $100, we could indeed buy an AHL team.

$50x15,000 members=$750,000

Hmmmm, might not be enough for AHL.

Our strategy would be easy.
hfboards team would just tank ten years in a row.

We'd have the best home record in the league.

It wouldn't be too fun sustaining an AHL team . It would cost far more than the initial payment.

How could a team with Scott Glennie finish last?

It's theoretically impossible. I mean we would trade for Glennie, right?

ECHL teams don't make any money?

I also tend to think Canadian tax laws would allow expenses to be used as tax write-offs no?

Call me crazy but I do feel 5,000 members could put in $250 a year into share options for the team.

It would also generate a ton of marketing for HFBoards.

Team name would probably be the HFBoards Forums.

Can you imagine the chants of the hf board fans in the crowd.

"Tur-Key Girl" clap clap clap
"This is OUT HOUSE!"

I would do it.

Every move we made in the front office would be decided via poll on the main board.
