I think you guys are missing Reddawg's point.
0 points in 46 games raises some concerns about Collberg. Concerns that, for Reddawg, are not quashed by Collberg's performance against juniors.
And seeing as this is a message board and not a professional magazine, Reddawg felt intitled to his own opinion about the matter.
So how about we discuss why he didn't get any points in the SEL (not one!), instead of bashing Reddawg?
So far:
- his coach / team are horrible with prospects
- he got little ice time
- he's really young
Still, 0 points is worrisome for a small player whose main attribute is offensive skill.
And before you go there, I like Collberg, I think he'll be in the top 10 or make teams regret it.
Easy. Cycling the puck down low, which is Frölunda's entire offensive game, isn't very beneficial to Collberg's style or size. He's more suited to scoring off the rush, or buzzing in and out of the slot where the puck always seems to find him. When your linemates are two career checking liners who are only out there to keep the puck in the offensive zone and kill time, you won't get a lot of sweet feeds either.
He looked a lot better in the two games where he got linemates with some hands and brains. One of those games was in pre-season, and he potted a goal on the PP.
Collberg scored zero points because he got very little ice time and didn't got any chanses. Same reason why Malkin scored 12 pts in his draft year, Berlund scored 3 pts, Kopitar&Bergfors scored 1 goal combined and E.Karlsson scored 1 goal and made the team only closer to the end of the season.

He'd be a good linemate for Crosby ala Steve Sullivan this year maybe?
I was wondering if he's the kind of player the Senators would be interested in. They have plenty of prospects (Noesen, Stone, Zibanejad) who have size and grit - they might take a chance on a more purely offensive player like Collberg as a complement.
I only saw him at the WJ, so I was curious if SteffG or any other SEL watchers could comment on how he might fit in. My hesitation in thinking this is a good idea for them is that they already have Petersson (a small, skill forward) in Binghamton.
Are Collberg and Petersson significantly different?
Is there a natural fit between Collberg and other Sena-Swedes? (e.g. Silfverberg)

The Sens need a defenceman pretty badly, but they've always picked the best player available. Given how heavily they scout players over in Sweden, there's no doubt they've paid close attention to Collberg. If they think he's a better player than any of the available defencemen, they won't hesitate to grab him.
Petersson had a very good year in Binghamton, but there's lots of competition for spots on the Sens roster. I think he and Collberg are similar, although Collberg seems to get involved more in the physical aspects of the game.
Ottawa would probbs take collberg before forsberg with the hard on for göteborgare they have.
Also his style, looks and projected draftposition are gonna give ottawa staff multiple deja vu's from 2008.
