really, are we that polarizing a franchise for the rest of the league? Not that I want to be confused with the Girls in any fashion, but think about it....
Aside from being Philadelphia's most hated team in their respective leagues, no.
Eh, don't worry about it. Outside of this board all there is is Milbury spewing nonsense to appease a local radio audience and a couple of coaches playing games with the media to try and buy some calls in the playoffs.
oh don't get me wrong, I'm loving all the hate. It means we finally have arrived as an elite franchise. The Steelers generate this level of hate around certain NFL corners as well....
Except Dallas had reasons to hate them. Pittsburgh doesn't have the Dion Sanders' or Michael Irvin's. We have a captain who is beyond PC and doesn't ruffle any feathers, another superstar who says...nothing. I mean, all we really have is Matt Cooke, and he really has toned his antics down.
People hate us because of no fault of the team. They hate us because we were lucky and got Sidney Crosby (who everyone loves to hate), and because the franchise gets this so called "preferential treatment," which is delusion at best.
Not to be a homer but it feels more like the Steelers. We have that believability that we are the best franchise in the league. Other teams hate that and want us to lose every game. Some respect and acknowledge the skill, others just want to see it burn.
I feel like the Pens and Steelers face the same stuff from opposing fans while the teams itself couldn't be any more different. Hell, when the Buccos get good, wait til you hear what people say about them. It's the entire city. Nobody wants us to win another Championship and we just keep doing it.

partially, but a large portion of the mouth breathers are still convinced the league rigged the lottery so we got Crosby. Nevermind there is no logic behind it, it is still there....

Tried to subtly sneak that in there, eh?
I am happy that they went 2/3 with the Phillies, and give em props for that. Anything that ruins a Philly fans' day makes mine.
I didn't really have an eastern team before but after seeing all the abuse you guys have taken over the last week I have decided to jump on the Penguins bandwagon if the canucks get knocked out. Canucks' fans know what the main board can be like. The hate is fun for a while but when you can't have a conversation with any other fan base without being told the sedins are sisters, loungo's a choker, your whole team is a bunch of divers blah blah blah, it gets old. So hated fan bases/teams unite!
BTW, I get the Luongo chant because there used to be some Aussie Rules player who used to have a similar chant long before that
Vancouver sports fans have been Loooooooing long before Luongo came to town. Everytime this guy came into the game its all you could hear....
"Lui Passaglia, placekicker/punter for The BC Lions from 1976-2000. He scored a total of 3,991 points, which is the record for most points by a player in any professional football league."
It's a shame the Canucks aren't Looooooooouuuuuuing Luc Bourdon. I'm proud to say I had the privilege of doing so numerous times during his junior career.
Bourdon/Letang's friendship could be another reason for Canucks fans to kind of like of the Pens.

My father is rabidly anti-Pittsburgh. Cincinnati all the way. He is not a hockey fan, but believes I should root for the CBJ's because it is an Ohio team. When I point out to him that I have been a Pens fan since the late 80's and have no intention of switching loyalties, I'm always concerned he'll have an aneurysm.
He hates every Pittsburgh team with an intensity that defies logic. He peruses the scores on ESPN, and if the Pens lose I get to hear all about it the next time we see or talk to each other. It used to drive me insane! Now I just troll him right back. I'm not a hand egg fan, but the Bengals make headlines for all the wrong reasons, so it's not that difficult. If that fails, there's always whatever MMO he's playing. It's evolved into a family joke. My mother now refers to it as 'bonding'

Him dying was one of the worst moments I have ever had as a canuck fan. That and demitra and rypien passing this year. Man the last few years have been hard on former canucks.
Hard to hate the Pens - just a team full of sheer talent. Will be rooting for you out of the East. Unfortunately I was only able to pick one Penguin in my playoff draft. At least it was a good one (Malkin).
I guess the universally hated have to stick together?
I have absolutely no clue why people hate Vancouver. I mean, LOLuongo is annoying and I never cared too much for Lapierre or Burrows, but I'll admit they have a good team. Not going to hate a team because I don't care for several of their players, that's just dumb.
I guess people hate because their a top team, and now-a-days people mistaken confidence and pride for arrogance.
I really don't see how you can hate the fans though. The people of Vancouver are so freaking friendly and jovial, how could you possibly hate them?
Just wanted to let you guys know that me and other Canucks fans are rooting for you guys to come out of the East this year. Been a dream final of mine for a couple years to see Canucks vs. Penguins, would be the most exciting hockey in a potential final. And it seems that lately that you guys are joining us being one of the most hated teams in the league, so that would really piss off the rest of the league if we were the final 2. Anyways good luck against Philly and the rest of the way!
Right back at ya. Canucks are my second favorite team. A Pens-Nucks final would be amazing.
Hopefully you guys don't have to go through the hell our team has, and us fans have. When the Pens keep winning, it's where the hate keeps growing, so don't let it get to you too much by which I mean all the insults, taunts etc. about you guys as fans, and your team.
Opposing fans hate you guys because you're good, VERY good. If you started losing, you'd have everyone off your backs. It's just nice to have a partner in crime this year.
