Oilers need a D, so swap firsts & give them Beaulieu. He will probably make their team next year as is as good as anyone they could get in the top ten, plus they will get a top 3 forward to choose from. Mtl gets the most dynamic offensive player in Yakupov and doesnt have a real need for nathan B. Nathan is already the best d-man on the best team in junior, no?

There's not even a point in discussing it because Edmonton would be power laughing until the draft if we offered that tonight.

you are overrating (IMO) Yakupov by not considering him contextually and underrating Tinordi AND Leblanc for the same reason. Maybe Edmonton wouldn't consider it, but they'd be stupid not to actually look at the situation.

Yakupov = 1 very talented player who may or may not help Edmonton's cause in not almost always winning the lottery (wouldn't you say Hall, RNH and Eberle are better than him? I would!)

Tinordi = MUST have D. Even if he's the 5th or 6th, if you're going to win championships, that's who you have to have there.

Leblanc = Watch him become our version of P. Bergeron. The guy will work way harder than his counterparts and on the line you really need to have a depth player.

Q: Would you break up the DD-Cole-Patches line for Yakupov (forget having both that line and Pleks-Yakupov)? Would you break up a great thing that was made out of wonderful chemistry? I hope not.

We need to find better wingers for Pleks. This could come through FA or IF we could convert Eller into a winger (or whichever of Gigs/Gal/Forsberg we take). Gallagher is going to be important down the line, as will Kristo. I'm not worried about having an Ovechkin or Crosby (which yakupov is not). I want to build like Detroit. Who knows, the fwd we pick could be a Datsyuk or even still, one of the 2nd rounders could be.

How the hell can they give 5+ to RNH, Hall, Nail, Paajarvi(Maybe less..) and Ebs. That is atleast 25 millions on 5 players. The cap better be at 100 millions.
Edmonton's fanbase must be sick of being in the toilet.....I saw Taylor Hall say on tv today that he feels like the Oilers must make the playoffs next year. Man they are a long way from making the playoffs and I doubt that drafting another forward is what they need. I know that you take the best player available, but that franchise needs defense and goaltending. I could see them trading for an established young D at the draft.

Exactly. If we would have been bellow Edmonton, we may have won this.

Hey man I said it when Price went down: we had to lose those three games.

The non-tankers didn't want to hear anything of it. We would have had Yakupov.

No way they gonna do that. A developed 2-way d-man is way more important that a unproven forward.

Seriously.

Also, people are discounting not just what some people think about our prospects (Beaulieu, Tinordi, Leblanc, Gallagher etc. including some dark horses IMO), it's what TIMMINS thinks of them. I wouldn't be so high on them if Timmins hadn't picked them. David Fischer aside, he usually has a great pulse on what his picks will mean to the organization. Let's also hope he picks 2 Paciorettys (or a Patches and a Subban) in the second round.

LOL @ trading Subban for Yakupov. I would lose it in a way if that happened.

I kinda want it to be 2013-2014 so we really start to see a contender, cuz we will.

I don't want us to trade our pick AT ALL. We will get a great player for free, without shipping out one of our future players..

Well what do you think about that Mr. Debean? Seriously.

I'm not a fan of that idea at all myself. I still take known versus unknown most of the time and if the Habs don't get any bigger this kid would have another concussion by November.

Ugh... seriously feel like **** over this, and i know its so dumb to be this effected over this stupid lottery, i was so happy with 3rd pick now knowing we were so close, losing 1 game more and we had yakupov (as we would of had there numbers so we would of won) is so annoying just remembering that game against buffalo where we were losing with 1.3 seconds left and DD tied it and then won in a shootout, if we wouldnt have scored with 1 SECOND left we HAD yakupov , OMG.... gonna take awhile to get over this one.. ****!!!!!!!!!

and not only that, but then ****ing edmonton winning also ****s us up as we would of most likely had the choice between Grigs/Gally now we dont even really have the choice..

last time at least for tonight i need to say ****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

/rant (for now!!!)

The Butterfly Effect... if DD doesn't score in those last seconds, Toronto would've won the lottery

Let's face it, Tambellini would have won either way (3rd in that case would have won).

Prettttty clear they are challenging boston to a corruption-off.

Its fine. Let edmonton take Yakupov and develop all these forwards. When their Entry Level Contracts are done, lets just snag one off them while they're in cap hell.

Well, looks like Grigo or Galchenyuk for us just like we thought.
