He'll stay in the NHL, just not as a starter. Can't think of a team that would want him as their go-to guy in net, though.

I hope he gets signed somewhere. I think he could be a good goalie in a non-pressure market.

Mike Smith had similar numbers to him in an offensive system before going to a defensive system and flourishing. I think a team that plays solid team defense like Phoenix or Detroit would look to get him as a back up.

The Coyotes also have a goalie coach who could help Gus rebound.

He will be in the NHL at one point or another in the NHL next season. Either he will get signed for a 1 year contract for a low amount (like Ray Emery just did) to begin the season or some team will run into many goalie injuries next year and will sign him.

He'll be a backup or a backups backup. My guess is a team like CBJ or Boston.

I think he'll get one more shot somewhere. Not in a starters role.

Some guy on either TSN or Sportsnet was asked if Gustavsson was going to return to Toronto. His response was, "No, he's going the opposite direction of Toronto and going to Columbus". Probably more of a prediction then a actual rumour he had. Then another guy on the Columbus board heard that someone(not sure if it was the same thing I saw) mentioned Gustavsson to Columbus was a possibility. With that said, I don't want him in Columbus. Don't think he'll improve the team. I haven't watched him play a lot but whenever I did, some goals were on par with Mason, if not worse.

Columbus is another team with a good goalie coach so Gus would be in good hands there as well.

Its strange to hear talk about Gus potentially rebounding. That would suggest that at some point in time he was on top of his game and a productive goaltender. I don't think he has proven to ever be a NHL starter let alone a capable backup goaltender.

To me he was grossly overrated when he came into the league and will leave it due to never being able to prove he was anything more than a monster disappointment.

Gus is going to be a very good goaltender when he returns to the SEL. Maybe he can room with Wallin.

Id have no problem giving him a 1 year deal shot behind Fleury as back up. As long as he came cheap. Maybe playing in a area that has less stress could do him so good.

Depending on what the Canucks do this off-season with their goaltending, they could look at a guy like Gustavsson. They also have Eddie Lack in the AHL, but there are no guarantees he'll be ready and I could see Gillis signing an insurance policy if he deals either Luongo or Schneider.

He seems like a nice guy and all, but the Toronto glare is gonna ruin him.
Wish him well, and he'll be much better in a non-Toronto market.

Knowing our luck, he'll shut us out over the next few years.

I'm sure he'll be a back-up in some other city, he's still young so he's definitely a good back-up option with the possibility of being a starter if he can improve his consistency.

What a lame nickname. Almost as bad as Optimus Reim.

He'll get an offer to be a backup somewhere. Heck he could come to Vancouver and compete with Lack (but likely lose) for the backup job next year. If nothing else, it gives Chicago (Wolves) a decent option.

No to Anaheim, we're signing that guy from AIK [Fascth or something?] and we already have JDD and Hiller signed through next year as well [on one way deals].

I hope he catches on somewhere. Had more faith in him than Reimer but Burke foolishly signed Reimer for 3 years at 1.8 so he played more than he deserved.

Gustavsson seems like a type of signing that Detroit would make. upside with a low cap hit (he'll probably only get about ~$750k).
