Only Ranger I've met outside of an autograph signing or waiting outside the Garden for graphs was Mike Rupp. He was online in front of me at a Stop N Shop. Cant remember the name of the town but it was in a strip mall somewhere in North Jersey. Only reason I was there was because about 3 stores down a bunch of NY Giants were doing an autograph signing. Had to be about 15 players there that day so the time slots were spread out. I had some time to kill so I went to the stop N shop to get some things I needed for the house. I noticed the guy in front of me and couldnt believe how much he looked like Rupp. Turns out it was him. All I could say was "Rupper?!" at first, but then ended up talking hockey with him for about 2-3 minutes. Really nice guy.

Also, forgot to mention what happened before a Rangers-Devils game in Newark. For anyone who has been to Newark Penn Station or the Prudential Center, you know that long walkway that you go through once you get off the train. Well, I got there a few hours early, and me and my friend saw Stepan, Drury, and I forget who else. It was one other player though. They were walking with their heads down, I guess so nobody noticed them. I thought it was pretty crazy that they would not only take the train, but walk in Newark by themselves. I didn't stop to ask them for a picture or anything, I just simply said Hey, whats up LGR, and kept it moving.

BTW, I apparently just missed Gaborik a couple of years ago. I had a game to go to with my dad and my coworker was heading the same way as me and offered to get a drink with me at a bar that was near the Garden. However, I was worried that my dad would come to the game and I would be at the bar instead of waiting for him. The next day he told me that there was a Ranger at the bar with a lot of people near him. The way he described him I figured it was Gaborik and I showed him a picture and it was him. So I just missed him. I would have seen Gaborik if I decided to go for a drink.

Gabby at the bar pre-game

"Gabby, that's like your fifth beer!"

I work near Columbus Circle, and have run into several Rangers players over the years (a lot of them live in the UWS or Midtown West because of the easy access to the Rangers training facility, I believe). This year, I've seen Michael Del Zotto (whom I didn't recognise at first) and Henrik Lundqvist and his wife (the guy really does dress impeccably). Last year I saw Marian Gaborik a few times, twice with an extremely hot woman, once of those times shopping for beer...

Generally, I don't talk to the players when I see them -- it's their free time, I don't want to bother them if they're going somewhere/doing something. The exception was Darius Kasparitis, whom I ran into at FedEx. It was when he was playing in the AHL, which he was philosophical about, but he still could not have been friendlier, chattier or funnier -- great, personable guy. Also has the biggest biceps I've ever seen.

Yeah I've seen some of them walking by there too. I believe they stay at the hotel in Newark Penn, that's why.

Well I figure Rangers and especially guys like Feds and Anisimov who are not our most well known players, don't get many fans coming over to them (at least relatively to other athletes). So who knows, maybe they enjoy fans coming by once in a while.

My Ranger encounter was also on way to Prudential Center. It was before a Devils-Canadiens game friend gave me a ticket for. As i was leaving Penn Station on Street level i noticed Rod Gilbert right smack in front of me trying to figure out which way to go. I said hello and asked him if he was going to rock. He was as Alex Kovalev left him tickets. We walked the two blocks to the arena together and he mentioned how Devils and Isles fans give him lip sometimes at games and How he almost challenged an Islander fan to fisticuffs who said he "sucked" on way to corridor between periods. It was a moment I will never forget.

I met Prust at the Palms in Vegas last summer. I was just hanging out in the Casino and I saw him, walked up to him and asked for a picture. He was a really cool dude. I asked him how it was possible that he didnt miss any games last year, he winked and said that it is all part of the trade to be banged up, he said he barely played pain free last year. What a beauty!!!

<------- The picture I got with him is my avatar.

I met Cally back in late 07 at an autograph signing up in Westchester while he was out with that knee injury after the collision with Dawes. Really cool dude. Very polite and took the time to personalize my photos etc.

That's the only current Ranger I've run into. Met quite a few back in the early 90s and early 2000s. Always cool guys.

This was way back in the day, met Sylvain Lefebvre at my cousins restaurant in Westchester, cool dude, talked for a bit, don't remember where I put the photo or even if it came out decent. Remember waiting for rolls of film to develop? Then finally receiving them only to find out half of them were blurry or out of frame or just darkness, those were the days...

Haha, I still have a drawer full of rolls of film that were never developed!
