A private ownership group recently made an offer to buy the Petes and were turned down by the Petes board of directors.
Read more about the story here.
The ownership group consists of local people who want to keep the franchise here in Peterborough but invest money into it in order to improve the team & build a new arena. They are all Pete's fans themselves and have a vision for the future and the deep pockets to help make this franchise relevant again.
Petes fans are very upset by the news that the Pete's board of directors are not taking advantage of this offer. Especially on the heels of comments from Petes President Jim Devlin that the Petes are unable to compete with larger market teams and actually lost money last season. The majority of fans feel the only reason the board is not willing to sell is because they don't want to give up their positions on the board and the power that they currently have.
This is a community driven team and the community feels this is what is best for the organization and what is needed in order to stay competitive. We've started a petition to try and rally together in order to help convince the board of directors to do what's right for the fans and for the city of Peterborough. It can be found here:
