Based off of the locker room cleanout thread. If you had to see one go, who would you prefer to see kicked to the curb? Assume in this scenario you can pick only one.
Dump Lindy. Roy only makes $4 million, scores like a low end 1st line center in most years but is paid like a 2nd line center or expensive 3rd line center.
Both should be gone though, but if I had to pick, Ruff packs his bags.
His public comments are starting to back up the rumors he's a locker room cancer. Combined with his subpar play, and historically crappy defensive abilities, I think it's time.

I think Roy is tired of being blamed. Why should Ruff get life contract in Buffalo? There is so much evidence against Ruff, yet we love him.
Get rid of Ruff now, then maybe Roy at the trade deadline. At least that way you get to see what Roy is about under a different coach, and you get a little tiny bit of evidence to determine who was more of a problem.

I can respect this interpretation, but I'd posit that perhaps your interpretation of his comments rather than the comments themselves point to him as a cancer. One might as easily see what he said as sticking up for his teammates.

No argument there. I agree you could take that either way depending on perspective.
I'm coloring my judgement based on my (obvious non-professional) experiences with good teammates over the years.
Beech, it's easy to assume (as I do most times) that the coach is approching players and issues the right way - the way you envision how you would handle things. But maybe Ruff really is a jack *** at times, and maybe he truly drains the energy from them. IDK either way, I just don't discount the possibility. Also, Ruff's main job is to get the best out of the roster, and if mentally pummeling them turns out to not be the best way for some, then he has an obligation to find out what does get the best from them.
I know of a tons of examples, mainly from football, where a coach took different approaches to get the best out of different players. Personalities are different after all, and you have to find the right buttons to push with different people. Sure, some goals or values have to stay the same, but you can get people to pursue them differently if need be.
Fire Ruff.I have wanted him gone the last 5 years, and somehow he is still here.Pegula will never fire Ruff or Regier, because this is the owner who cried when the local media was bashing the team.

agreed. i think he wants to go back to playing behind real leaders like B/D, so he can see 3rd line defenders, lack accountability, and get another big contract.
