Joey MacDonald to sign one-year, $925,000 contract with CAL. First to report imminent signing was @RogMillions
Looks like it's probably a sure thing, but I'll put it under rumor for now until it's confirmed.

It's not really a bad move. Seems like Kipper's retirement is a sure thing, so we'll roll with MacDonald/Ramo next year. Mac has proven himself this year as a good backup.

I love Joey Mac! Glad he's sticking around, he's done more than enough to prove himself in Calgary.

Yes, its sad when a team has to look to Joey Mac for stability in net... but I love the guy anyways.

So Berra's AHL bound for next year?

Joey Mac has deserved an NHL backup job for far too long now. Happy to see him get some love.

MacDonald, Berra, and Ramo. That has top 3 pick all over it, at least they are finally embracing the rebuild out there.

Good for Joey though, he has been trying to nail down an NHL job for a little while.

James Mirtle says done deal which is good enough for me. My guess is, presuming Kiprusoff retires, MacDonald is the prohibitive #1 goalie with Reto Berra (as he appears to have been signed to a 1-way deal) battling Karri Ramo (Assuming he signs) for the back-up slot with the loser going to the AHL.

Good re-signing. He's played well lately and seems like a great guy for the dressing room.

Sounds pretty accurate. Brossoit will also be in the AHL so the goalie picture is set for the Flames next year.

All this signing is for is veteran presence encase Kipper retires. Ramo will be the Flames starter next season if Kipper retires.

He seems like a good locker room guy and a good backup but a starter? As an oilers fan I have a feeling there could be a few more 8-2 games next season against the flames.

In all likelihood Ramo will be the starter. MacDonald is insurance. I wouldn't expect the Flames to be all that competitive either way, but at least they'll have some veteran insurance.

Funny. Because I remember him getting a 4-1 win against said oilers which killed their playoff hopes. Mac will not be the Flames starter next year.

I think it's just insurance, with a nod to the backup role. I suspect him, Berra, and likely Ramo will each get a shot during the pre-season but Berra might have to really stand out for the Flames to waiver/trade MacDonald.

We know what Joey is at the NHL level, he's a backup quality goalie who's capable of good starts, but also not a goalie you're adverse to having to put on waivers.

of course, this is assuming the Flames can come to terms with Ramo and that Kipper doesn't have second thoughts on retiring after a rough season.

Good for JMac. Always liked him in Detroit, but just couldn't Manny Legace his way into a roster spot.

Bring up Laurent Brossoit next season. I can't believe Canada cut Brossoit last year.

Iginla is gone and you can't rely on Kipper now.

What do either of these things have to do with Brossoit's NHL readiness?

Good for Joey Mac, I liked the guy as an Islander. For some reason I'll always remember the shutout he posted against Detroit one year.
