Hagman to HIFK would be pretty nice

But if he doesn't get a NHL team probably goes to KHL

I would never second guess a Jack Adams nominee, but I was surprised Daugavins and Klinkhammer didn't get a game or two against the Rangers. I guess they wanted to see Stone and Silfverberg - and both were quite solid. Still...you want guys who have been there for you during the regular season.

Beautiful 4th line player IMO. They could play him in the bottom 6 and not regret it for a second.

This must have been the deal breaker for Suter and Parise.

Calgary re-signed RFAs Akim Aliu and Paul Byron.

Philadelphia close to signing UFA Bruno Gervais.

Uhhhhhhh can a Flyers fan please answer me this: why?

The Flyers already appear to look like:
- Kimmo Timonen
- Braydon Coburn
- Andrej Meszaros
- Nicklas Grossmann
- Luke Schenn
- Andreas Lilja
Not to mention:
- restricted free agent Marc-Andre Bourdon, who is almost a lock to make the team
- the status of Chris Pronger being really up in the air
- and lest we forget Matt Walker still on that sexy 1-way contract (but we'll assume he gets buried)
Altogether, that makes 9.

Down on the farm looks like:
- Erik Gustafsson (who could just as easily be up there ^)
- Danny Syvret
- Brandon Manning
- Blake Kessel
- Olivier Lauridsen
- Cullen Eddy
- Matthew Mangene
- Matthew Konan
- Tyler Hostetter
- and Zack Fitzgerald (playing on an AHL contract).
So that's 10.

19 defensemen in total between the NHL and AHL rosters. And now they're "close" to signing Bruno Gervais to just round 'er up to 20.

Lilja in the top six answers your question

Pronger is done. Walker is buried. Bourdon is a decent guy to have for call up in case of injury, and I would play him before Lilja. Cant say that Gervais is an uprade to anything but I just dont see who else is available besides Carle, whom we are not going to pay 6 mil+.

Seriously, Gustaffson is the only guy worth mentioning.

This has merit. We are certainly carrying too many defensemen, particularly AHL defensemen with no real shot at the NHL. Holmgren has gotten himself in trouble with the contract limit before. I assume there will be guys leaving for "future considerations" even if no one else is signed.

Dane Byers signs with Edmonton Oilers(Stauffer)

The @NHL_Oilers have signed forward Dane Byers to a 1-year, 2-way deal. He is a hard-nosed 26 year-old who has spent six seasons in the AHL

per bob stauffer

https://twitter.com/#!/Bob_Stauffer

no one will take advantage of the young guns now.

Big Signing!

It's an OKC signing, nothing more. Definitely not "big".

Why did this deserve its own thread? Totally an AHL signing. No need on the big club for him when we have Eager and Hordichuk.

Per capgeek, the Pittsburgh Penguins have signed Philippe Dupuis to a 1 year 2-way $600,000 deal.

It would be bad for the Oilers if he is on the opening night roster.

Nice signing for the Oil. Byers is a good NHL/AHL tweener, can protect the kids on the farm, come up and play in the need of injuries.

Per NHL.com New Jersey has signed Krys Barch and re-signed Tim Sestito.

Hunter Tremblay, an UFA who played in Edmonton's AHL system, has signed with St. John's of the AHL.

Ivan Baranka - New York Rangers - 2008
Corey Elkins - Los Angeles - 2011
Jonathan Filewich - St. Louis - 2009
Ilkka Heikkinen - New York Rangers - 2010
Chris Holt - St. Louis - 2009 (he may have been released to sign with an AHL club in the fall of 2009)
Mattias Karlsson - Ottawa - 2009
Petri Kontiola - Anaheim - 2009
Brady Murray - Los Angeles - 2009
Antti Pihlstrom - Nashville - 2009
Vojtech Polak - Dallas - 2008
Paul Ranger - Tampa Bay - 2010
Stefan Ruzicka - Philadelphia - 2008
Petr Vrana - New Jersey - 2009
Eric Walsky - Vancouver - 2010

I saw on the Vancouver website a while back that Lukas Mensator (Vancouver) was a rare Group IV (restricted free agent/defected player) back in 2005. It wouldn't be a surprise to see him on July 1 as a Group III free agent since he is 27 years old.

You don't have to add the names to your list. It's just to know why most of them will show up on the NHL Free Agent list on July 1.
The Ivan Baranka era is over!
Before it even began.
Watch Tysen Dowzak make it somewhere...

Kidding aside, thanks to all those who compiled the info.

apparently the Canucks have had negotiations with Baranka and may sign him next year since he still has a contract in the KHL this year
