I can only imagine. It'll be up there in the greatest post dynasty moments as an Oiler fan if it happens for sure

I don't understand how so many people are wanting Grigs at #2 when he put up 10 less pts this regular season that Couturier did in his draft year, yet there were many questions about how much offence SC could produce at the next level.

I know its not all about stats but its easy to compare these 2 when they're in the same league.

I think it is a really good comparison. People are so obsessed with size they forget this thing called foot speed. It is crazy really. A big player is fine, but in the NHL if you lack foot speed you are done.

Any way, I think gigs will be a very good player, but will be disappointing if we take him. I think he will turn into a 60 point type player. I would rather live with Gagner as the 2C and get a #1 D man which Murray will be.

I swear if we win the lottery, I'll go streaking all the way to Ohio. I'd be so pumped.

I was browsing this board thinking about the same thing. Eberle, Hall, Nuge, and Yakupov together scare the **** out of me...but a part of me would still love to see it happen . Best of luck to you guys tonight.

I very much doubt they take Grigorenko at 2 or 3.
If they win lottery, they take Yakupov. If Yakupov is gone, I think there is a possibility they trade down to a 6-7 range and take the best available player (which could still be the said Grigorenko).

If they somehow coax Burke into giving up Schenn and his 1st for Oilers' 1st, the Oilers would be well set IMHO.
Galchenyuk and Schenn would be a hell of a draft.

It was also his rookie season and adapting to the north American style. He also spent all his time learning English.

You say that as if you think it'd be a bad thing to have a guy like Couturier. He put up better numbers and played better 2 way hockey in his rookie season than Seguin did in his in nearly identical situations. I'm expecting a big year out of SC next season

I don't think so. I've yet to see a proposal with a player/picks that make that kind of deal worth it for the Oil. They have a system full of prospects, so what they need is top guys, not a bunch more tweeners and 2nd round picks.

This is a bit silly, but I just ran the NHL's draft simulator five times and the Oilers won twice and only fell to third once. It got my hopes up.

http://oilers.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=626582

That said, might it also be a little bit embarrassing to be picking first overall three times in a row? Also, if the Oilers drop to third, the decision is much easier. Defenseman Ryan Murray fills the need for defencemen and a shot at an all-Ryan starting lineup.

The stream will supposedly be up here:

Not at all.. I gave the comparison of the two because they put up somewhat similar numbers, yet I don't year any of the same warnings about Grigs.

Also 2 way hockey was a big part of SC's scouting report, where it is barely mentioned with Grigs. In that case, if the Couturier pick didn't pan out as hoped (1st/2nd line scoring C) at least you are left with a big, 2 way forward.

Schenn is not a prospect. The player they pick at 5 or 6 can arguably be as good as the one available at 2.

It's all probability people. Doesn't matter how many times you run the simulation, haha.

3 years in a row I've had to deal with these butterflies in my stomach and this nervousness. Can we please not do this again next year? Please?

Happy with staying at #2 or winning the lottery. I really want Ryan Murray.
