Glad Im not the only one who sees it.

This team went from competing for home advantage to not being able to beat the Marlies nearly overnight. It's time Burkie let someone have it. Maybe not in the papers though.... we all know how that will end up

When they say "making the Leafs a successful playoff team." I am wondering if they are aiming for next year. If they can do that without giving away our future sure (ie signing one of Parise or Suter) otherwise, I dont want to see them blow away our young assets to make this team competitive next year.

para. 3, is the point of the letter ... the letter is a vote of confidence for burkie dressed up as an apology to the fans, coupled with the timing its intriguing

i suspect the brass is concerned about tomorrow's presser and the vitriol that will be directed at burke, so much so that it felt it couldnt wait until after the presser and felt an urgency to issue a vote of confidence now

smells like a front office under seige to me

He said the players needed to shoulder some of the blame during the Wilson firing PC.

Hilarious.

Successful teams play playoff games. Playoff games at the ACC bring in north of $2M (probably closer to $3M) in revenues PER GAME. All this during a time where the players aren't paid.

Successful teams enjoy increased merchandising sales. You think the Leafs sell a lot of jerseys now? Just wait until they're contenders!

This whole "MLSE only cares about money" lamentation that people throw around all the time is so incredibly silly and nonsensical.

If MLSE only cared about money, why would they give Brian Burke full reign over the Leafs with no intervention? Why would they provide him the maximum allowable budget under the salary cap? Why would they go out there and buy the most expensive management team in the league?

Success = profits. If anything, MLSE CRAVES success because it makes them more money. Unbelievable.

It's fine for him to say stuff like "The players have to be responsible".

It's not fine for him to say **** like "phaneuf is a bad captain, and he failed to lift us into the playoffs", which it seems is what some people want to hear. What few UFA's we might have managed to sign in the future would be nowhere to be found..

I don't think I've ever been looking forward to a Brian Burke-led press conference as much as I am this one.

I thought sarcasm and HFboards were synonymous, anyways, those are all great points, but it was a tongue in cheek comment, prompted by this quote:

Isn't that standard protocol though when firing a coach? I'd like him to say that there will be substantial changes made to the roster next year because of the under-performance of some of the key vets. These guys are all too comfortable because of their contracts they will be coming back. Sure it's easy to drop the Joey Crabb types but the heat should be on the LACK quartet to start with.

My bad. You didn't quote him so I wasn't aware you were continuing that on. Seems you fooled a few other people as well.

Glad to have a rant though. So tired of seeing that argument brought up. You should see the comments on this photo from the official TML Facebook page.

Are there any Canadian forces still in Afghanistan or some other sh1thole he could get away to rather than face the media in Toronto?

that's nice and all but it really doesn't change anything and this team is still in the same spot it was before this whole retooling begun. Yes we have more prospects and some better players here but really the end result is the same.

Every season since the lockout has been the exact same, sometimes a new journey but always the same result
