good point, thinking about it the owner was really adamant about having NHL notice Minnesota as a legit hockey market. I do hope this splash is Parise and not us trading out prospects away.

I think we could get a 1st rounder for Clutter. Really.

Extremely late 1st rounder, maybe.

We would be giving up a serious physical element to our team, though. Players like Clutterbuck don't grow on trees.

If we're trading Clutter, I'd rather it be in a package to get a legit NHL player.

I would like to hang onto Clutterbuck. He's one of the best 3rd liners in the league. Some teams draft players in the mid to late 1st hoping they'll turn into a Clutterbuck.

Clutterbuck is really streaky and we have one last year at a bargain with him.

I agree, neither are anything close to Clutterbuck. I wouldn't even speculate either of them develop into a Clutterbuck-type player.

Bulmer is projected as a large, pesky, power-forward type. I see Larsson being projected as a Brodziak-esque player.

Neither of them have the physicality or speed of Clutterbuck.

He knows his role. He's not going to demand a king's ransom. We can definitely afford to keep him.

That may be, and if we choose to trade him, that might play a part. But what won't be a part is any belief that Bulmer or Larsson provide the same aspects to the game.

I'd be on board with a Clutterbuck trade. His value is high; his good contract is nearly up; and his numbers are showing a concerning decline. I don't think he's going to be that physical force much longer. And once that goes, he's just another 3rd-liner. I'd be proactive with him if I were GM.

NHL.com new mocks are up:

Morreale http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=79447
Kimelman http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=79446
Hoffner http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=79448

I think I can sum up their quality with five words about one of them:

Collberg not in first round

So far his best year was last year. The funny thing is he's almost 50 hits below normal.

For the most part, I agree with Morreale. I see Galchenyuk going #2, and the Wild taking a d-man. At this point, Grigorenko not going to the Habs would be a risky bet. Not sure if Anaheim takes another offensive defenseman, though.

He started the year really slowly and ineffectively. Seemed like he was either in poor condition or shaking off an injury. Seems that if he had played the whole year (hitting-wise) like he finished, he would have been back on pace.

Hits. This year was his lowest total, and his overall curve is downward. He also took a lot of minor penalties this year. Couple that with offensive numbers, and it's concerning. I don't like the trends. His effectiveness is waning.

Not to mention he finished the year with a concussion.

Yeah, Morreale other than Rielly to Anaheim (if I had to pick one player Anaheim won't draft, would be Rielly) isn't bad in the top 10. I disagree with Galchenyuk to Columbus, but it's still realistic. I can't see Ceci over Trouba (11?) and Reinhart though. The later parts of the draft are always much more of a toss up, but Collberg at 25? No Aberg in the first? Frk at 20? Wilson at 16?

I think the entire team's numbers were terrible this year because our defense was terrible. In the back of every forward's mind, they were worrying about defense. I'll agree that Clutterbuck wasn't very effective this year, but I would give him another redeeming year before thinking about trading him. When he's playing his best, Clutterbuck is an extremely important part of this team. He hates to lose, and he's a good example for our incoming prospects.

Also hit statistics are extremely subjective....not something to base a concrete evaluation on.

Doesn't look very subjective with Dustin Brown. Last four seasons: 285, 287, 300, 293.
