The Shutout Sweep....

Has this ever happened where Team A's goalie posts 4 consecutive shutouts and Team B scores 0 goals and is swept?

Almost happened a few times. Giguere shut out Minnesota three times in a row in 03 but let in a goal in game four.

In the playoffs, the Sens faced off with the Philadelphia Flyers and were heavy underdogs, however, Lalime was unbeatable, as he allowed only two goals as Ottawa defeated the Flyers in five games. His GAA for the series was 0.40, and he had a .985 save percentage.

From his wiki page, closest anyone has gotten.

edit: ^nvm lol.

In the 2010 Eastern Conference Finals against the Montreal Canadiens, Michael Leighton allowed only seven goals in five games, posting three shutouts as the seventh-seeded Flyers advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals against his former team, the Chicago Blackhawks.

Didn't sweep but 3 shutouts in a series is pretty noteworthy.

I must be worried for the Sharks these playoffs if they were the first thing I thought of when I saw the thread title.

So 3 shutouts and a 7-spot? That musta taken the luster off that at the time.. probably why I've never heard that before.

7 goals in the other 2 games. It wasn't a sweep.

In 2004 Khabibulin had 3 shutouts against the Islanders in the first round.

Just ask Marty Turco, 3 shutouts against the Canucks in 2007, and became the first goalie ever to get 3 shutouts in a series and lose. Now THAT's noteworthy.

I loved how Cechmanek got blamed for that series, even though he was 1-3 while only allowing 7 goals in the 3 losses.

Diepetro had a shutout in that series as well. 4 shutouts in a 5 game series. Has there been 6 SO in a 7 game series?

Turco

He was so ridiculously good in that series and he still somehow lost.

3-Dave Kerr, New York Rangers, 1940 Semi Finals
3-Frank McCool, Toronto, 1945 Finals
3-Turk Broda, Toronto, 1950 Semi Finals
3-Felix Potvin, Toronto, 1994 Conference Quarter Finals
3-Martin Brodeur, New Jersey Devils, 1995 Conference Quarter Finals
3-Brent Johnson, St. Louis Blues, 2002 Conference Quarter Finals
3-Patrick Lalime, Ottawa Senators, 2002 Conference Quarter Finals

3-Martin Broduer, New Jersey, 2003 Finals

I always hated Turco, and he had always been blamed for his teams troubles in the playoffs. He had some awful awful numbers. Then he has one of the best series performances ever and his team still fails.
