NSH wins most bang for the buck - Jets #20 accd to BMO

The Predators were tops for being able to earn 2.02 points for every $1 million (all figures in U.S. dollars) in player salaries applicable to the league's salary cap. The Winnipeg Jets were 20th in these BMO rankings, having earned 1.62 points for every $1 million spent.

Not a big fan of this study as it relates to the Jets. Much of their current spending cannot be attributed to the current management group; the Jets roster can best be described at present as in transition.

Also, this is not an evenly weighted league-wide ranking of points per million spent, given that...

The 16 teams making the playoffs were automatically ranked higher in the BMO report than non-playoff teams even if their points-per-million-dollars ratio was lower.
As such, at best it only serves as an actual comparative of the top 16 teams, those that made the playoffs. Others may in fact have been excluded from the list due the weighting. I understand the weighting, but it unfairly skews the "points per million spent" study result.

Totally agree. I don't think the study is faulty, and understand why they've done what they have, but I do think the title, and what it claims to present, is inaccurately portrayed.

It leads one to believe the study is directly points per million towards cap, which it is not.

One of the most pathetic attempts at quantitative analysis I've ever seen in sports.
