O'Reilly to the worlds

According to this article, Ryan O'Reilly is expected to join team Canada at the world championships.

If he continues to improve his play (as in just kills it next season), he could receive some consideration for the 4th center for Sochi. Stamkos, Crosby and Toews are locks. Then you have Getzlaf who had a tough year, Thornton is on a bit of a decline, Eberle is on the rise. If they want someone defensive minded it'd probably go to Patrice Bergeron right now, but if O'Reilly can get 60-70 points next season and continue to be a defensive whiz, you never know.

Eberle is a winger though...

That was expected IMHO.

And considering Sochi, I would really like to see him play on a shutdown line alongside Bergeron.

Oh, my bad. Also forgot to include John Tavares in the list of candidates. In the Olympics most forwards play out of position anyways.

According to Kevin Allen; a beat writer for USA hockey, says that Stastny is going to be on US WC team.

Exciting news.. I'm sure he will gain much more recognition around the league and hockey world when he showcases his talents on the world stage. Can only be good for him and his development. Do us proud Ryan!

According to TSN, Tavares won't be on the team but they already have Hall-Eberle-Nugent-Hopkins & Seguin penciled in

Hell, with a bounce back year even Duchene could get some consideration

Top's in takeaways in the NHL, good face off guy, really good PKer, great locker room guy, can provide offense from a 4th line role... Team Canada would be dumb not to include Factor, IMO.

Dutch gets back on track next year, and he'll be considered.

Only if he improves his defensive game by quite a margain, since there are a lot of skill guys that have offense as their calling card in front of him.

O'Reilly has to improve a lot to beat out Bergeron for Sochi. They are very similar players but Bergeron is clearly better and is already battle tried.

I'm pretty sure Landeskog and Hejda are going to be there as well, maybe even Varlamov.

#Oilers forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has accepted an invitation to represent Canada at the 2012 World Hockey Championship

Hope to see Landeskog to the WC. The race for Calder continues...

Awesome. Would be sick if he lit it up over their. Crazy, last year would never of thought of something like this. Figured it'd be Duchene doing things like this.
