Well I've heard he's got more hockey IQ than Phaneuf. Didnt watch Dion in juniors so...can't really back that up.

I'm not sure yet. Luckily it's not my call. The more I think about it, the more I get the feeling that it won't matter though, I think the Isles take Dumba and someone like Forsberg is left for the Ducks.

Basically this. I've got my favorites, but there is not a single player ranked in the top10 I wouldn't mind the Ducks drafting. I'll trust the scouting staff on this one.

Weird, I'm thinking exactly the opposite here. Just a gut feeling on Isles picking Forsberg and that leaves Dumba to Ducks.

I would be ok with that. I'm fine with any of the big 5 + Dumba. I feel like they have to try to swing for the fences with this pick, what the hell. Who knows when they'll be drafting up here again and we have a nice pipeline of what look to be "contributors" in the system. Might as well go high reward here.

Yup. I feel the Ducks prospect pool is in a pretty good shape right now. It would definitely make sense to pick a player with who they think has the highest upside, rather than a player who has the best chance to reach it.

Honestly this just about wraps up anything you can say about the Ducks draft expectations this June.

Based on what I've seen, my rudimentary analysis is that the comparison to Sbisa is a good one. Dumba doesn't have wonderful speed as compared with NHLers, and it seems like it's his agility in avoiding a forechecker that makes him an effective rushing defenseman. I tend to doubt that that will translate, but his passing and vision are potentially good enough to make him an asset on transition when sending breakout feeds. And you gotta love a guy who hits like that. I'm a fan.

Personally I would want Trouba. I was really impressed with his play in his first World Junior Championship back in December. Trouba showed great skating ability and physicality in his shifts. However, I can't ignore Murray is the safer pick and is more NHL ready, so I would probably rank my top four d choices at:

1. Murray
2. Trouba
3. Dumba
4. Reinhart

Trouba kind of reminds me of Cowen for some reason basically due to his size and style of game, but the jack johnson comparison ive seen written...do not get it JJ is kind of like Dion Phanuef

I think Dumba has the highest upside of the known defensemen in the draft, if we take a D hes my first choice, we need someone with fire and heart, plus hes very talented

As per above, Johnson can hit. There are a few more where he lights up an opponent like that too.

JJ is much more mobile than Phanuef but Phanuef easily beats him defensively (not saying Phanuef is that good defensively, more like JJ is that bad) and has a heavier, but less accurate shot. I don't see the Fowler comparison either, JJ has is more physical and has a better shot than Cam but Fowler is much better at skating tha puck out of danger and moving the puck up ice. Fowler's hockey IQ is also far superior to JJ's.

The three really aren't all that comparable at all. They are all offensive defenseman, that's about it.

Edit: Put in YT video properly.

I'm getting more and more convinced that you just throw out **** without watching hockey. I'm baffled. JJ is not a slower fowler.

Murray 1st, but I think Reilly will turn out to be the 2nd best defenseman in this draft.

Yeah, you've spewed out a couple gems that I didn't chirp at buddy.

Don't have to be a **** about it. Either way he doesn't compare to Phaneuf.
