If you sign Parise, Dubi has to go. Either he wakes up and becomes a second liner or he's gone.

I don't think we're getting Parise, so it's all a moot point.

I think Dubi will wake up in the playoffs into next year.

Let Feds walk and we should have space for ZP

I don't think he'll come here, but we should be able to make a good offer to him.

Yes!

Like to see kreider be more active with his skating.

rangers started to try some plays designed specifically for our speedier forwards.... Banging the puck off the glass to spring gaborik after defensive zone draws, a few dump ins in the far corners for hagelin after he takes off through the neutral zone... I'd like to see more of that from the team, especially adding another forward with exceptional speed... More offensive zone possession off of well executed dump-ins for our speedy forwards.... Properly utilized speed is such a significant advantage out on the ice, which is why it was so painful to watch enver lisin play.

Kreider's best performance I've witnessed since we drafted him was the 2010 WJC, where he played with Jenks and Morin (who quite frankly sucks). If he played with Stepan he would have given Derek a run for the tournament lead in scoring.

Play him with some talent, players who will get him the puck and he will look better then he ever did in college or the international stage thus far.
I completely agree here. His best performance in my opinion was the 2010 World Juniors. He had the puck more than in any series of games since. It was most likely a factor of the coach, Blais, correctly diagnosing how to use him or who on that team had decent chemistry. Which is in direct contrast to York, who can give a **** how to use a player and if they have chemistry as a unit. (more on that later promise).

There were a fair share of games or portions of games where CK didn't play much of a factor into the gameplay and it was very hard to figure out if it was the player's doing, a product of his linemates, or some combination of the two. The Hayes - Straight - Kreider line really did not demonstrate good chemistry with any consistency in the televised games I was able to catch. Hayes like to hold onto the puck a lot, Straight really was not an ideal set-up man. I know BC liked to spread their offense out over those 3 scoring lines and make themselves harder to match-up against, but I can't help but feel if Kreider was playing with say, Gaudreau, we would have seen a heck of a lot more action from him on the offensive side of the puck playing with a center who can really find him in traffic and spring him for scoring chances.

I do think his game will get a much needed boost playing with professionals and more skilled linemates. He's a nice prospect:

Size, strength, athleticism, good character, good work ethic, nice kid. Coachable player who will be easy for a coaching staff to mold into the type of player they think he should be. He will be a good locker room guy and he already has a jump start on that process in knowing a handful of the current Rangers.

With any luck he will eventually develop into our own version of what Dallas got with James Neal & Jamie Benn's development.
IMO, the Kreider-Straight-Hayes line was tough to watch. I don't think they had much chemistry, if any. Certainly, putting Kreider with those 2 wasn't maximizing his abilities.

The thing is, I don't think York cared about any of those things. I suppose you can ask why should he. I think he just looked at it as a way to spread the wealth and make his team more difficult to defend. Kreider paired with Gaudreau would have been electric, I agree. Gaudreau just thinks the game better than anyone on BC, in addition to his silky smooth hands and speed.

So yeah I don't think York maximized Kreider's talents, nor developed him all that much. I think he looked at his roster and just said, " Lets put him here and win some games". He is a coach and his job is to win. Winning in college as a coach is 85-90% recruiting. I can not argue with the way he recruited. That said, I dont think if I am running an NHL franchise I would be all that thrilled if my 1st. round draft pick went there. York won several NCAA title's and I didn't, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Games that I was able to DVR off ESPN I spent some time going back through. I was able to see things I had not seen/missed when watching it live. Not to over analyze it, but his passing, shot, hitting, ability to absorb hits, skate in small spaces are all better than I initially thought they were. His acceleration is the most noticeable thing about his game. Still he's a better overall skater that I initially thought as well.

This will be interesting moving forward.
Kreider has all of that, 100%. The only thing that worries me is he isn't a puck magnet. It sounds stupid but again he went long stretches in games without even sniffing the puck. The best and smartest players, I have ever played with/against, it seems like the puck is following them, not the reverse. That never happened to Kreider, unlike say Gaudreau. Obviously, they are 2 different kind of players.

That is why I have such a tough time figuring out how successful he will be. It is my one worry. You would think a player that much more physically gifted would just possess the puck that much more.

I am sure his unselfish demeanor has something to do with it. For example, if I was Kreider, I think I would have punched Palmieri in his face during the 2011 World Juniors. Lol

He should be better off in the pro's. Unless he is in the doghouse, there is no way he will be paired with a Straight and a Hayes. Man that line gave me headaches.Tortorella is going to maximize Kreiders talents more so than York, that is for sure. If he can get a high energy game out of CK, similar to how Hagelin plays, the sky is the limit.

If forced to make an opinion on Ck, with a gun to my head, I think he will be an in-between guy. Not quite a puck pursuit, heady, always around the puck, high energy player like Hagelin and not quite an opportunistic goal scorer like Gabby. CK will probably be something in between those 2.

It is tough to say though, he does have pretty much every tool in the box.

Edit: Thanks for the compliments on my first post.

do u think torts keeps the same lineup for game 2 or puts in kreider for game 2? mitchell's only noticeable contribution tonight was being offsides on rupps EN attempt.

As much as Mitchell was a non-factor in this game I believe he plays again just to give Kreider some more time to soak it in.

If the Rangers go up 2-0 then I can see Kreider getting in game 3. Road game, up 2-0. Especially if Mitchell struggles.

I'd guess Mitchell probably plays either until we lose or until he has a noticeably bad game.

Next year if we replace Fedotenko and Mitchell with Kreider and Zuccarello...IMO that will really improve our offense. I might be in the minority here but I dont see the need to add a 6-7 million dollar forward in the offseason.

I rather try to get an offensive dman that could blast the puck and help the pp. The powerplay is our biggest weakness.

They should send him down to CT to get a game in the AHL to see how he does

No way we see him Saturday. Torts wouldn't do that to the team after a win.

Schultz will be signed most likely. Giving us an abundance of D-men. Since our top 4 D-men are top 2 on any other team i think one of them gets packaged. Could be for a top line LW (even though we have Kreider now and Hags) or, and this is what i think, we trade a top D-Man and a prospect (let's say Erixon) Dubs maybe? for a high 1st round. even if its not 1st overall. But Sather has ties to Edm and Renny loves Duby. Who knows, this offseason is going to be pretty exciting IMO.

Did anyone see Mitchell out for a shift after the 1st? He played a shade under 5 minutes tonight and I really don't see why he stays in the lineup over Kreider... I'm sure he'll remain in there tho...
