I think they are just assuming Hagelin will be suspended.

Either Hags is suspended or the loss gives Torts the rationale to put him in over Mitchell. One way or another I personally have the odds at 2-1 he plays next game.
senators 3rd and 4th lines are so much better than ours; more scoring depth. i think that's a weakness with our team. Clearly losing dubinsky early hurt tremendously in this aspect but consistently i feel the senators have more skill in grind lines. this is where kreider could help.
however in a game like tonight... i bet he was in awe of the tempo and physicality in relation to what he had just played in during ncaas

I think it's 2-1 odds you don't know what 2-1 odds mean.
I think the reason he's with the team now instead of playing in Hartford is that he demanded to burn his first ELC year. The Rangers figured this is better than risking losing him.
The truth is that it's terrible cap management to have him on the team, especially if he's not playing. You don't waste a year of cap savings just to have him practice with the team. That's what preseasons are for, not playoffs.
I would bet money that he demanded to have his first ELC burned to sign with us, but nobody wants to admit to this because nobody is interested in having the Rangers think that Kreider was threatening to leave over money.
Based on what, exactly?
Conspiracy theory is entertaining.
The reality is that the RANGERS wanted him on the roster now.
And he may play on Monday night.
If he does, and contributes, that's worth the 1st year being burned.

Because it would make sense to try him out in Hartford, and if he dominated there at least in practice, then burn the ELC year. I think he spread rumors about leaving to get leverage to burn this ELC year.
Maybe he comes in and does some good stuff and then we get to play both of them when Hagelin comes back, whereas Torts may not use Kreider at all if Hagelin isn't suspended.

Not really that hard to understand.
Yea, but the real blessing would be having Hagelin. I much rather have Hagelin playing now than Kreider. If anything, Hagelin not suspended and Kreider playing over Mitchell would be a blessing, not that.

I understand that and I agree with you, but if this is the only chance for Kreider to get in the lineup(knowing Torts obsession with Mitchell), things might end up better in the long run.
Assuming we can get through a game with someone stepping up in Hagelin's absence.
