Vs Ottawa I can see Rupp sitting. He is also here for injury backup.
I don't think the NYR really are that bothered about burning the entry level year. They may be keen to get him on a reasonably priced 2nd contract sooner rather than later.
The Rangers aren't signing him to play in Hartford or they'd save that year. I expect he's going to get some action. Maybe not play all the games but he should get in some and we need more forward depth.
So just to clarify, he plays this PO run and then two more seasons. Then he has to be resigned correct?
Yes, he'll be a RFA. Not sure if this counts as a year towards being arbitration eligible though. I guess it does...so since he's technically signing at age 21, he'll be able to elect for salary arbitration after 2 years.

This.
Also, to flip it around, I don't think Kreider signs the contract without a guarantee/promise from the Rangers that he would be with the team during the playoffs. Why would he leave school early to play in Hartford?
Exactly, that pointless might be Mitchell...it might be Rupp...Heck, it might even be AA (who along with Step and Hagelin, have played like crap at ES)...But all these guys get a shot fist..They play and perform and stay healthy, Kreider sits...but, if they don't, he's a better option than Big bad John Scott and the flotsam and jetsum from CT...
Awesome news to hear in Ranger land. We will definitely need his speed vs the Sens. My only concern with Chris is going to be how he fits in on the defensive end of things. I would assume the coaching staff having to work with him a bit on his own to get him rightfully adjusted.
Teams know nothing about Kreider, and Kreider knows anothing about NHL teams. That usually favors the player. Goalies know little about him, know nothing about his tendencies, etc.
Kreider is perfect for this scenario. Lightning in a bottle. At a minimum, his speed and size will give that Ottawa defense problems.
I'm not expecting scoring. I'm expecting hard work.

Hagelin has the 3rd most ES-points on this team, and is a +21. He has not played like crap at ES.
Anyone who doubted Kreider's commitment to hockey or the Rangers, anyone who posted crap about his GF or staying in school to party, and anyone who gave him flack on twitter about the "go B's" comment...please proceed to the crow eating thread.
