Perfect spot to put a team. The Av's made hockey fans of people in Loveland/Fort Collins but it is just out of reach for too many people to travel to Denver very often for Av's games. Also not much competition for entertainment dollars up there. CSU football maybe but they haven't been very good for a few years now.
Stockton is another team in the exact same situation and they led the ECHL in attendance 06'-09'
Ontario led the league in attendance this year and the prior two years. That may be a product partly due to the economy. 2 NHL teams have created lots of hockey fans but many now may not have the amount of disposable income to afford the NHL anymore so the ECHL may be a nice option.
It will be interesting to see what happens in S.F. next season. They are in the opposite direction from San Jose than Stockton is so the hockey fans should be there but there is definately no shortage of options for entertainment dollars in S.F.
Denver should be more of a similar situation to Ontario but definately in a much shallower pool. Not sure if it can become a long term thing or not but if they can attract the fans that the Av's have lost the past few seasons it might fly.
