I could see the Coilers trading down perhaps and picking a d-man.

If the Oilers could ever patch together a reasonable D they will be straight up frightening.

Getting Yakupov really opens them up to trading Hall for a top 2 stud D man. That team is going to be scary.

Wow. If they keep the pick... Yakupov, Nugent-Hopkins, Hall and Eberle.

I really enjoyed watching the Oilers young kids this year, it was exciting. Yakupov would make it even more exciting.

Now Edmonton must build around these guys and take the next step.

This is hilarious, can't believe that actually happened..

Could legitimately see Edmonton trading down now.

It will be interesting to see what the oilers do. A team so rich on forward and so poor on D. My guess they will make some sort of trade. At least it wasn't the leafs.

Wow - the Oilers troll the lottery! If they select Yakupov, what an amazing set of young forwards they've got. Scary.

EDM should trade down IMO. They need a d-man.

Button has us picking Dumba. While I think he could be a great player, I would much rather take a forward.

That would be a huge mistake. You take Yakupov and run. Drafting Dmen high is risky. Many of the league's best weren't even selected in the first round.

Trade Gagner, Paajarvi, and some of their other forward prospects for young D.

Definitely could see them trading down.

Strong set of forwards and no D got them to where they are today.

Columbus can't even win at losing.

However, my bet is that Edmonton goes with Ryan Murray, or trades down. They don't need another forward. They're already stacked up front, with Nugent-Hopkins, Eberle and Hall already up there, and Paajarvi, Lander, Omark, Hartikainen and Pitlick already in the system. Beyond Klefblom and Musil, the defense looks hopeless. Murray would jump right in and play in the top 4 from day one.

Also, REALLY do NOT want Dumba.

Ya it's sure gonna be hard for Edmonton to sign a goalie. Nobody would want to play with those scrubs in Edmonton, no talent there.

They also don't have the pieces to move for an awesome goalie, nope

If Dumba falls to us, I would be beyond ecstatic.

But man, I dont look forward to possibly playing in the same division as the Oilers in the future. Just when the Jets return, the Oilers build a new dynasty.

I agree. I think if you get a chance to draft a generational talent you HAVE to take it. I don't know if Yakupov will be that but you have to take a chance. You are really missing an opportunity of a lifetime if you don't.

Hall is reckless, injury prone already and would fetch a fine, fine defenceman. Trade Gagner and get another top 4 D man. Keep Paajarvi and develop him into your shut down centre.

Goaltending is the easiest fix. Just go out and get one. People who waste time developing goaltenders are really wasting resources.

So we're still at 9, right?

and don't be insane, the Oilers will take Yakupov. They're not going to trade down. [mod]

I am highly optomistic that this franchise relocates in the next 5-7 years and this is just another nail in the coffin. Leases are meant to be broken in poor markets.

Honestly, I couldn't see Columbus drafting Yakupov anyways given their history with drafting Russian players. I predicted they were going to shock the world and take Murray at #1.
