I'm not sure if I can create a thread about this, but I'll try it : Does anyone know what happened to him? I haven't heard about him at all this season, is he still ours? Why isn't him called-up sometimes? Injured?

No idea about the rest, but he's still with the Flyers and played 33 games with the Phantoms this year.
Actually, dude has been knocked down the depth charts pretty far as a result of all his injuries. At one point he looked promising but then the injuries started knocking him down bit by bit.
Missed out on a spot after training camp and got sent down, has had (another) injury filled season, and is subject to recall waivers. He is signed for next season as well at 600k. I wouldn't completely rule out him earning a spot with the Flyers, but it appears a bit unlikely. Depending a bit on what happens with free agency and such, I could see a spot left open for guys like Bourdon, Gustafsson and maybe Manning or Bartulis to fight it out over. Stranger things have happened than Bartulis finding his game again and winning a spot over the other guys, while maybe some of the others don't impress much during camp, but I would assume that Bourdon or Gustafsson's chances are higher.
He had a really strong rookie campaign with the flyers, but it looks like injuries are really breaking his career. He looked like a really solid prospect for a while.
I never really understood the flyers signing him to that contract if they never expected him to play. They really punished him for "being a rookie" and making mistakes on the bottom line. I personally believed that he was a better option that signing Lilja, and before that, he was better that the rash of fill in defensemen we signed.
Agreed with Sponge hes a lot better then people give him credit for but it seems he was never really given a fair shot. Injuries have derailed his career and will most likely end any shot of him ever being in the NHL.

I really liked what we saw of Manning, would much prefer him to get the call out of the two anyway... Has Blake Kessel overtaken Bart too?
He's the Latvian Ryan Parent. Holmgren overzealously declared him an NHL player after a handful of games (which was funny because John Stevens played him less than 10 minutes in the two games before getting the contract), the new coach disagreed, after a while he had to ride Pronger-Carle/Coburn/Timonen and then by the time he got an honest chance he got hurt. He was ok which is why he got a small contract, but he got screwed by his contract as much as his injuries.
Holmgren is great at many things, but he tends to forget rules and such now and then, doesn't he?
He's not good enough at one thing to stick in the NHL. He's not a great puckmover, but he's not big or strong enough to be a true defensive dman. He has to rely solely on positioning, and that doesn't get you a regular NHL spot.

I would not fault Holmgren on this one.
He signs a young Latvian defenseman who has played more than 50 regular season games and playoffs with the team to an incredibly cheap 600K, 3 year contract. He assumes that Oskars will stay with the team at least as a #6/#7 guy but then all of a sudden injuries keep piling up for the guy.
