What Brian Burke Will Do At The 2012 Draft

Brian Burke will draft both Yakupov and Galchenyuk just like he drafted both of the Sedins back in 1999. They both play on the same line, have similar heritage, and have amazing chemistry and GM Brian Burke is just crazy enough to pull this one off.

I have no doubt that the thought of acquiring this amazing duo is resonating in Burke's head right now but if he were to go through with it, what would be the price? Something around Kessel or Lupul I would imagine, but what do you think?

He'll draft the big american C.
He'll swear and whine if Galchenyuk is off the table by TOR pick.

Lupul and change doesnt get TOR the 1st overall pick. Gardiner is the shiny new toy so will have to be dangled along with a Kessel or Lupul to pry away the 1st overall pick.

Burke traded the equivalent of Gardiner and his next years 1st, plus a number of lesser draft picks to arrange to get both Sedins.

Burke..hopes to pick Galy with the 5th pick..if not Gladly takes Forsberg..Then later in the first round he trades a roster player (Kule/Cmac..something like that and takes Tom Wilson...

I think you got it right. Now with the Oilers picking Yak i can see Grigs going to the Jackets .Next the Habs will pick Galy.I'm sure the Islander would than pick one of the two D-man. Would bejust terrible for the Leafs if Islanders picked Forsberg. They might want Forsberg to play with Tavares.

Yeah I'm sure the Oilers would just LOVE to have Lupul back. And Phaneuf to... it just keeps getting better. And for only 11 million against the cap! come on.

That type of deal might get up to the second pick if the Jackets want a top 6 forward and overpaid defenseman with attitude and consistency issues and lacking hockey sense.

But then again a trade like that would set the Leafs back big time. He even identified those two as key building blocks, which explains a lot about the disastrous finish this season.

Funny, I don't think we're in the market for one of those. Go figure, eh?

I doubt we trade the 2nd overall entirely. Trade down, maybe, but certainly not trade away.

Lupul is a PPG player in the NHL and Phaneuf is a #1 Dman in the NHL.... that is a lateral move if anything, and that line may be dangerous, it wont be in the NHL next year and maybe not the year after.

Burke wont trade for the #1 pick, he will stay at 5 pick either gally/forsberg/murray in that order and we will call it a day.

2 things could happen in that case:

Trade down a few spots for Faska, or take Murray.

Grabo, Franson and a 3rd don't get you the 1st overall pick, the value isn't there for an elite talent like Yakupov - fail

Macarthur, Frattin, Holzer don't get you Brown. Mac makes more then Brown, will be a UFA at the end of the season and Brown is more productive then Mac, is more physical and is the Kings captain, they have 0 need to trade him for a down grade. Frattin is an interesting young player but LA doesn't need more bottom 6 guys and Holzer would be 4-5 on LA's prospect D depth charts so not a lot of value there for the Kings - fail

Kulemin/Gunnarsson and 2nd for Staal - I think pure value is close, but I don't see Pitt trading a C after spending the major part of the past 2 seasons with Crosby on the IR. Staal is also coming off his best statistical season while Kulemin just had a black hole of a statistical season and Pitt is fairly strong (Letang, Martin, Orpik, Michalek, Niskanen, Lovejoy, Strait, Engelland, Morrow, Despres) at D so while Gunnar is good, he may not be the piece that the Pens would be looking for in exchange for Staal - value is fair but doesn't help Pitt - fail

Riemer, D'Amigo, Lashoff, 2013 1st for Luongo - Not enough to get the Canucks to trade Luongo. Vancouver has Lack and Cannata locked up and MacT (Wolves head coach) has stated that Lack is more then ready to play in the NHL so Reimer isn't a piece Vancouver needs. D'Amigo and Lashoff are AHL players so have little to no value to Vancouver. The 2013 1st is nice, but with Luongo it will be a worse pick for Vancouver so they would be better off going after something that is a known commodity like a 1st+ this season from a team - fail

Draft Galchenyuk
Put Lombardi on waivers
Re-sign Kulemin, Frattin, Franson
Sign Moen, Parros, Harding
Trade Kadri, Macarthur, 2nd for Ryan Clowe

Lupul-Bozak-Kessel
Clowe-Grabo-Kulemin
Moen-Connolly-Frattin
Parros-Steckel-Brown
(Armstrong)

Phaneuf-Gunnarsson
Gardiner-Schenn
Franson-Liles
(Komisarek)

Harding
Reimer

Bozak and Connolly are eventually replaced with Galchenyuk and Colborne.

Lol

This post makes absolutely no sense. Each sentence contradicts the last, but I guess thats what happens when your goal is to take as many shots as possible but not necessarily make a coherent post.

Burke is a draft guy. He'll deal Schenn and Toronto's 1st to Edmonton to draft Yakupov along with another asset.

He'll then proceed to sign Schultz as a free agent to replace Schenn.

I'll be fine if we're left with either Murray or Forsberg. The team is riddled with holes, far too many for 1 draft to fill but 2012 can get things started.

Burke will draft some players, maybe a couple trades at the 2012 draft day.

At the 2013 draft day, Burke could be looking for a job.
