As an avs it's really going to suck in 3 years having to go against hall eberle rnh yakapov and a probable lottery pick next year is going to ruin goalies save percentage. I think its innevitable that they trade one of the kids for a defenceman, i feel like another last place team will push hall out you can tell he really wants to win and he must be getting frustrated, yakapov plays the same way as hall anways so i bet one of them is the player to go. Would OEL plus phx 1st rounder get it done?
Lol they still suck. Its not like vancouver just somehow was gifted first overall or pittsburgh. When theyre good theyll stop getting the picks. Till then good luck keeping hall eberle Nuge and Nail past theyre ELC. Thats a pretty tight window to make your team competative and basically build a defense from prospects. Everything balances out. No reason for anyone to be mad. They won acording to the rules. Im actually rooting for them only thing is poor poor columbus.
Not mad at all, I'm just glad that the Habs didn't get him, as long as he's out in the West it's good. They're pathetic that they celebrate three years of finishing with the 1st pick.
I always thought that the 5 year plan meant you're actually going to be a Cup Contender or at least have some sort of success by Year 5. I'll bet that the Oilers don't make the playoffs for another 2 years.
Chicago- Won the lottery, got Kane, made the playoffs 2nd year. Oilers got Hall, didn't make the playoffs, got RNH, didn't make the playoffs, and it seems like they'll get Yakupov and won't make the playoffs again.
Not mad at all, just going to raise the lulz factor when Edmonton loses all three of their first overall picks in free agency a few years down the line as I have absolutely no faith in their organization to actually turn things around.
A bit mad, but it's also pretty funny. Tambellini looked like the biggest failure ever at that lottery. Just embarrassing, really. How has he not been fired?

I don't think that's a 5 year rebuild.
Chicago
1st year- Finish 29th, get screwed in the lottery, draft Cam Barker.
2nd year- Finish 28th, stay firmly in their spot, draft Jonathan Toews
3rd year- Finish 26th, win the lottery with dumb luck, draft Patrick Kane
4th year- Finish 4th in the conference, top-10 overall and go to the WCF.
5th year- Have an elite campaign, win the Stanley Cup.
Edmonton
1st year- Suck, finish 30th, draft Taylor Hall
2nd year- Finish 30th again, draft Ryan Nugent-Hopkins
3rd year- Finish 29th, win the lottery, draft Nail Yakupov??
Not mad at all. I'm rather enjoying 95% of non-Oilers fans losing their **** over this. Epic troll by winning the lottery. Keep going, Oilers fans.
I'm a Habs fan, so I'm fine with picking 3rd overall, not to mention there's no guarantee Edmonton keeps the pick. A trade is possible. Unlikely, but possible.
It's even more funny that it's mostly fans that weren't even in the lottery that are throwing a spaz. If it were mostly CBJ fans, it would make more sense to be mad at losing the 1st OV pick, but seeing fans of playoff teams get their panties in a bunch over it just makes me laugh and hope that Edmonton keeps trolling.

Thanks. I completely forgot about Kane/Toews rookie years.
But in that sense, I honestly think it gives the Oilers more hope than anything. Chicago only emerged as a playoff team in their 5th year.... we have another year to go before we prove ourselves.
But a lottery finish next year is simply unacceptable. I want to see this team make a legit playoff push and draft 9th-14th now.
