I was pissed, but it makes beating them better. What a joke. I'd keep the pick and take Yakupov.

Maybe they should draft a defenseman. Just a thought.

Unless they get overpaid for Yakupov, I don't see them trading down. With that much talent, they might be able to attract FAs (maybe, especially if overpaid), or trade a lot of the dead weight for a #1.

Whatever they chose to do, they need some defense. They have enough offense on that team.

Hawks' core: Saad, Keith, Seabrook, Kane, Toews, Sharp, Hossa

Oilers' potential core: Hall, Eberle, Nugent-Hopkins, Yakupov

They really need defense but there's no way in hell you pass up Yakupov. You see which forwards amount to something special then wheel and deal to get your defense.

And Saad is not in our core. He has played what? Two games for us?

True, but a couple of our guys are on the wrong side of 30. And Saad isn't in the "core" yet.

I'm expecting him to be part of our future core. That's my expectation. He may be the least valuable of Sharp, Hossa, Kane, Toews, Sharp, Hossa, and himself, but I think he's going to be a damn good contributor to our top-six. Also, guys like Leddy and McNeill can be damn good for us.

It's real tough to get the wasps out of the nest when we are sitting in the playoffs with 101 points, and the Oilers are winning the draft lottery for the third straight year with season finishes of #29, #30, and #30. :p

As a fan of both teams, I find this ridiculous. The year before I remember going to one of the Oilers-Hawks games (wearing my Hawks shirt no less) and watching the Oilers derp around and lose 3-0. Not much had changed in the Oilers lineup in one year. Crawford and Emery were being mental midgets in the series this year, and as a result, the Hawks played poorly in front of them for the most part of those games, and the young, fast Oilers were able to take advantage of it.

Why? don't you remember the epic 10 goal **** fest the Hawks laid out on the Oil a few years back? Why do you find it ridiculous? I understand you love the hawks, but I don't and I remember that ass kicking. Hence the comment.

Wow, get off your high horse there, buddy...take a look at your own team's history before you act all snooty. And besides, captain, I'm talking about the regular season here once it gets going again.

That's part of why I don't think it matters, to be honest I think their series next year could go either way, granted, both lineups were quite different a few years back, they might very well be by next seasons (well, at least a little). I'm a little 'unbiased' (?) because I like both teams about equally, and would love to see them both in the WCF next year (which is where they both should end up).

:waive:

I really thought after you guys scored a touchdown and kicked a field goal we would be ready in the next game. Stuff like that doesn't to often glad it wasn't from a division rival. And when it happens twice in a season it makes me think we got it out of our system for the next 5 years.

Way to take advantage of scoring and goaltending issues. Hopefully we give the Oilers a better showing next season. peace

While I agree they could be really good - when was the time a good team was built around a bunch of wingers (and I realize RNH is a center)? Maybe EDM will break the mold - but I'm not sold unless they're able to significantly able to upgrade the blueline and goal.

Feel bad for Jacket fans. Their team tried to be good and it didn't work out for them. Edmonton clearly had no intention of doing anything but Failing for Nail.

I'm fine w/ Edmonton winning it. I would have rather seen Montreal get the #1 pick, but I'm glad Columbus isn't getting it. I would like them to be bad for a very long time.

Yes, clearly. Hence the 65 points on the year.

Perhaps you've been living under a rock. Just to recap - Columbus made a huge splash in trading for Jeff Carter and then signed Wiz to a huge contract. It just didn't work out.

stop talking for "us" and especially for ME.

I don't feel sorry. Actually, I really like it. I can't stand this joke of a franchise and I'm happy they don't get a chance to destroy Yakupov like they destroyed many promising prospects before. Filatov on top of this list.

And why should a Hawks Fan, playing in the same division now and in the future, feel sorry to not play against Yakupov?

If all of edmontons core play like the high draft picks they are, I'll love to see how the keep them together in 4 years. Especially with their lack of a top dman
