Oilers will have to trade one of Eberle, Hall. RNH, or Yakupov in package to get a true No. 1. I think Oilers fans understand this point.

They don't need an elite #1.

I don't think this will get you package you're hoping for. You're better off trading them individually for top 4 type d-men(in gagner's case) and a D prospect in MPS case as they are won'y get a top 2 D IMO. Assuming you're looking for a top 2 D.

Everyone will be lowballing the Oilers because everyone is angry that we won the draft lottery right now.
Paajarvi has close to no worth right now, maybe a mid round pick or an equally struggling prospect, but Gagner has been a perennial 40+ point second line centre. Oiler fans want to trade him because he's just too small, and the weakest link out of our small forwards.

In the limited action i've seen of him, he plays like your biggest forward at times.

tobias rieder for the season (5th G OHL) (2nd SHG OHL) (3rd EVG OHL)
31GM 21G 29A 1.62PPG
drafting Yakupov
we will have 4 potential 30G scorers

Well Gagner is heaviest out of EDM's top 6 forwards at 192lbs.
Hemsky, Smyth, Hall, Nuge and Eberle are all lighter.
Unlike others, Gagner does not have star potential and that is what makes him expendable.

I wonder if we could work out a deal with Phoenix? The Coyotes have depth on the blueline.

This is basically the best you will get. No GM with a really good young defenseman is going to want to trade him for your spare parts.

It isn't lowballng, it is a reality. Oilers fans that are hoping for an elite young blue line prospect in return for Gagner and Paajarvi are not grounded.

As for Rieder, he's far from a sure thing but has excelled in Kitchener this year.

Montreal would like to snag MPS for their top 6. We're not interested in Gagner. Weber or Diaz + 2nd? He's become irrelevant in Edmonton now.
