I think he means whats the point of having a GM in Edmonton anyways if he doesn't do anything. He only works 10 minutes a year.

Just this year, he's traded black hole Foster for Sutton (who has been good this year), traded a 7th round pick and Fraser for Smyth, signed Belanger for 3rd/4th line center with focus on PK and faceoffs, signed Eager, Petrell and Hordichuk for grit in the bottom 6, signed free agents Potter, Barker, and Fedun for evaluation on the blue line, signed prospects for the minors (Tyrvainen, House, Tremblay), and traded Gilbert for Schultz to round out the D core a bit more.

He hasn't made any real high profile moves, but to say he's been lethargic is being facetious.

He didn't even know that he used up all of his post-trade deadline call-ups while poor Paajarvi was on his plane ride from Oklahoma City to Edmonton. They had to send him back immediately.

That's almost as bad as Bob Gainey having to pull a kid in the midst of a game because they were over the salary cap.

You guys do know that being an NHL GM is a lot more than trades and signing free agents? 90% of the job are things we never see or hear about.

Yeah we're just sour that some jackoff has been rewarded for losing three straight years. We actually were lucky we didn't move to 6th so this really isn't a bad situation for us.

Surprise, surprise...This is complete bullshi*

3 first overalls in a row, is absolutely ridiculous. I don't why there isn't a rule against this. Teams show 0 pride, keep losing until they get a couple stars by abusing the draft system and then claim to have smart management.

Doubt a single Oilers fan is bothered by it. It may take another 3-5 years to reach contender status but the foundation of the team is being built on franchise/elite talent not complementary players.

Spoiler alert: Hall, Eberle, and MPS are all due for raises next year and RNH the year after that. Having three of their key guys start their ELCs simultaneously could be quite detrimental in the future.

Two of the three will demand 5-6mil on a long term deal. The rest will follow on similar deals. The ones that don't "buy in" become extremely valuable assets. It's a win-win regardless.

Eberle was a PPG player this year, Hall was very close, and RNH as a rookie was fairly close as well. 5-6 would be steals.

He said Tambellini hasn't done anything, and I was showing otherwise. Never said all his moves worked out

Oilers have tons of cap space in the next 3 years

__________________ 2011-2012 2012-2013 2013-2014 2014-2015
Projected Cap Space $3,810,424 $21,450,001 $42,900,000 $58,800,000

as you can see above. The oil can pretty much fit their whole payroll around our stars and not have the same troubles as other teams in the past, like chicago who signed Brian Campbell, and Cristobal Huet to ridiculous contracts. So get used to seeing those kids in Oilers jerseys, cause they will be filling them for years to come.
