Too much talk about confidence in this thread IMO. 16 fanbases right now are as confident as it gets, and you have to be, no? You have to believe what got your team there will also allow them to win a series. Most of these teams are coming in hot to varying degrees, whether it be because they went on a tear to get in the position, or are still on a tear, you have to be able to believe it can continue.
If you don't have confidence at this stage you have nothing in my opinion, given that the puck hasn't dropped yet. It's mandatory.
The closer to puck drop we get, the more trollish the posts become...
Haha nah it comes and goes. There's some semblance of civility after the old trolls have nothing left to say and the thread waits to accumulate new ones. Now new trolls and angry fans from both sides have come back to the thread and will continue to troll until the puck drops.
every year its the same thing. st-louis, the hottest team going into playoffs, was suppose to upset canucks, canucks win. kings, having the magnificient doughty, suppose to upset canucks, canucks win. hawks was suppose to beat the canucks again, canucks win.
Lol these Kings fans are cocky for an 8th place team
Whatever, lets just give them some hope before their dreams come crashing down next week
I wouldn't say cocky, just confident. Fine line but they're walking it well. I think they gotta be confident. I wouldn't blame them or laugh at them at all. Just put yourself in their shoes. Would you not have the belief in your 8th place team? I say good on them, but still hope the Kings go down.

Lol nice crystal ball you got there, try giving me the lottery numbers while you're at it

There's a difference between confidence and cockiness. You're absolutely right when you say that teams have to be confident in themselves at this time of year, but one has to beware of having too much of a good thing.
For example there's the chatter from Kings players about how they're ready for a deep run and think they have what it takes to go all the way. I know it's boring, but I firmly believe in the "one game at a time" mantra. If the Kings want to express confidence before the series then express it for the series you're in, not one down the road. I could be wrong on this (always a strong possibility) but I don't think we've heard any talk from the Canucks about getting back to the finals since they drew the Kings. All of the dialogue seems to be focused on the series at hand.
Personally if I heard the Canucks talking about the finals already I would be a bit worried that they're focusing on the wrong thing at the wrong time. I also have to believe that HF would jump all over them for being cocky and overlooking the Kings etc. I guess that's the difference between being an underdog and a favourite; the underdogs aren't expected to win so they're allowed to act cocky but since the favourites are expected to win they have to act humble. I guess we'll see how it plays out soon enough.
Alright, now that I got that out of my system can someone please find me a quote that will completely discredit my rant? Anything about the Canucks looking past the Kings will do.
My deepest sympathies. Outside of Drumheller, I don't much care for Alberta. Not as mountainous as B.C., not as flat as Saskatchewan. But more money then both combined...Aw well, worth the extra hour in cases like this I guess.

Not calling you wrong or anything, but the Kings did the one game at a time thing for every game for the first half of the season. It failed miserably and the team was bereft of anything resembling confidence. It's probably in their best interests to proceed with this attitude given prior events this season which didn't turn out to their benefit because they were being led into battle by an emotionless coach.
If any of the Canucks did say anything like Jeff Carter has though, you're right, people would be ripping them to shreds. Kind of an unfair double standard that such a thing would happen, but it's true.
The only teams that can challenge the Canucks are teams that can raise the pace of a game. Teams that have that "extra gear" playoff trait. Chicago, Detroit, Boston, Pittsburgh, Anaheim and Philly. Now I'm not saying that it's the only good trait a team needs (look at Anaheim) but it's the only thing I've seen that seems to really challenge the Canucks. I see nothing from the Kings that suggest they have that extra gear. I was at that last game between the two teams, and the Kings looked slow and didn't have any sort of push even though they were fighting for the playoff lives at the time.
You can throw regular season stats and streaks out the window. Past playoff performance is the best indicator on how a team is going to do in the playoffs. Upsets usually occur in the first round if the either the top seed is a playoff rookie or the 8th seed is a playoff veteran. The Kings are not going up against St. Louis or New York Rangers where there are unknowns as to how those teams are going to play in the playoffs. The fact the Kings (a playoff rookie)are going up against a team that never gone out in the first round in the last 4 playoff seasons and went to the finals last year makes an upset even more unlikely.
I watched the last game between the Kings and the Sharks. You can tell that there was playoff intensity from both teams, it was unusual for a regular season game. The only prize on the line was the winner didn't have to play the Canucks. That game was worth a thousand words.
I think the only way the Kings win this series is if Quick plays lights out and the Canucks don't play to their potential.
